I think one the biggest vulnerabilities in US democracy is its own propaganda.

Selling the idea that American democracy is more special and incorruptible than any other system on earth to every child in school led people to actually believe it.

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

The number of Cubans I’ve known who say “why can’t they do it the right way like we did?” You mean showed up and were handed a green card?

It’s the same with the Republican Cuban population. People my parents and grandparents age were allowed to just show up with no restrictions. It’s easy to “do it the right way” when the wrong way doesn’t exist.

Even big pharma needs the NIH to be up and running. If they can’t run clinical trials they can’t develop and produce new treatments.
