Every so often a film comes along that surprises me or strikes me as brilliant, original, or just plain masterful in one way or another. I just saw one: “The Coffee Table” by Caye Casas. Be careful, it’s a punch in the gut - horrifying, hilarious, and harrowing.

Congratulations to all the Oscar winners, and a special shout out to the incredible Colman Domingo, an artist of the highest caliber. If you were any more real, baby, you’d be fiction.

Vance attempts to lecture Europe on how to properly run an authoritarian government. Fails miserably.
Vance uses half-truths to lecture a European audience well aware of the threat of authoritarian rule | CNN
It felt like a speech, if delivered on X.com, laden surely with community notes.

"Even if you decided to negotiate with Putin, just remember he will lie," Navalnaya, widow of late Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, said at the Munich Security Conference two days before the anniversary of her husband's death.

This song matches my mood today. But tomorrow I’ll be alright. I have no intention of letting these people steal my joy. Goodnight, friends - nolite te bastardes carborundorum.

This is Yuriy Kerpatenko - he was a conductor who led the Kherson Philharmonic Orchestra. He was murdered by Russian soldiers for refusing to participate in a “victory” concert when his city was invaded and occupied. When I despair about the next 4 years, his courage lends me strength. Arts matter.

Midnight O-one on January 20. Thank the gods I have been spared taking part in this travesty on account of the weather. Today I highlight the work of a truly amazing artist. This is a piece of work that earns the status of masterpiece in my book. Check it out.

We need positive forms of political opposition in the United States. The People's Cabinet would offer new ideas, new voices, and new forms of action.

Hello, new here. It’s heartening to see so many advocates, allies, and activists on this site. Like many, I was shaken by the results of the election, but I’m ready to get back in it. I figure I can bemoan the circumstances, or be grateful for the opportunity to make a difference. Count me in.
