Red Sox offseason shouldn’t be complicated. Sign a pitcher. Sign a right handed power bat and/or Juan Soto, trade Wilyer in a package for pitching, sign a back end of bullpen lefty, sign a second catcher, fill out bullpen, minor league deals. Profit.

Nolan Arenado hasn’t been great for two seasons. What it would take to get him is not worth what you’re receiving.

If the Red Sox sign Blake Snell they should also sign Gary Sanchez as the second catcher

The Red Sox should sign Kyle Lewis to a minor league contract

People are too down on Ceddanne Rafaela’s bat. His WRC+ was 73 which is bad but he hit 15 home runs with a .246 average. And a lot of that was due to awful April and September. These are the two months where rookies usually struggle. His June-August was really good.

Signing pitchers will be so easy. Then you draft and develop high defense and contact guys and play small ball. Win a bunch of games 2-1

The perfect take 🤌🏻
That doesn’t bother me. If he’s given the green light to get the guy I would certainly prefer him not be in the room
AND John Henry wasn’t there?!? BRUH

One interesting name for the Red Sox I don’t hear enough about is Taylor Ward. Right handed bat with a few years of control. Obviously would rather have Soto or Teo but could be an interesting option if those two don’t materialize

If the Red Sox don’t land Soto it’s disappointing but we move on to Teoscar and pitching

If the Yankees don’t land Soto it’s an outright embarrassment and disaster

This is under the assumption Nick Pivetta doesn’t accept the QO
Cooper Criswell is out of options but I think if we add 2 starters and trade Kutter then he could be the 5 until Giolito comes back in May(ish) then transition into the bulk inning relief and transition Whitlock into high leverage relief

41 year old Juan Soto is probably like the fourth best DH in baseball at that point. He might get an extension

The sane fans came to blue sky
Is this a safe place to say Juan Soto is a generational talent and the Red Sox would be a better team if they signed him?

One more Sox thought before bed. I’d love to see Breslow deal Josh Winckowski in a deal similar to John Schreiber last year. Sign a big name like Tanner Scott and let Whitlock be the multi inning guy in the pen.

If the Red Sox spend this year then the AL East is about to be an absolute dog fight. The Rays are getting an entire rotation back and the Orioles have another year of experience with another wave of prospects (Mayo, Basallo) coming up. The Yankees will retool and the Blue Jays are frisky

@jayhaykid.bsky.social which Free Agent do you think would be the biggest needle mover for the Red Sox?

Justin Lawrence could be a good buy low bullpen arm 👀

Bring Juan Soto to Fenway
