Moral rearmament, you say? No, not that kind. Interesting, if likely unintentional, historical echo in this headline.

I wrote about enslaved people in Hamburg, flight attempts, and the city's free-soil law of 1837. It's an open-access publication: 🗃️

Why are/aren't you crying? Why do/don't you keep talking about your dead spouse? Why aren't you grieving more/less? Why are/aren't you dating yet? Why have you had/not had sex again yet? Are you going to steal my man/woman? When are you going to disappear so I don't have think about this again?
I carry precisely zero water for Erika Kirk and this post isn't about her. But the way I see people talk about her constantly recycles negative judgements and stigma attached to those widowed young. PSA: there is no right or wrong way, no normal way, to grieve when widowed young. #widowedyoung

The Glyptoteket (Copenhagen) just, four days ago, opened a new gallery showcasing its collection, primarily funerary statuary, from Palmyra. Highly recommended.

The #TransitCat of the day is warm and cozy.
There’s a “real feel” of -7c and several inches of fresh snow outside and I have to get on my bike to go teach an 8am class. Meanwhile, Leila gets to stay home.

If we are to have data centres then let's put them to use. Btw. I love district heating! No boiler somewhere in the apartment that might breakdown or need maintaining. No boiler in the basement even.
70% of all Danish homes are connected to the district heating grid.
Datacentres are being connected to the district heating grid, so the waste heat is reused to heat homes.
This is just one example from Odense, the city of HCAndersen fairytales.

Made adobo sauce but instead of ground chillis used Berbere spice mix. Unsurprisingly, it turns out I'm not the first person to invent Eritrean/EthiopianA-Mexican fusion. Still, it tastes fantastic. #eritrea #mexico

Now ready for tasting. I think this has turned out to be the best sauerkraut I've made, sweet from the red cabbage and pungent with lots of black peppercorns.
Experimenting with making sauerkraut with red cabbage, seen here on day 4 of fermenting. Frankly, I would much rather be posting banal rubbish like this than being forced to scream endlessly into the void about Greenland (and everything else etc.). I'm also much better at posting banal rubbish.

In fact, Hind Rajab died two years ago today, January 29th, 2024. I didn't realise this when we went to see the film last night.
Went to watch "The Voice of Hind Rajab." In many ways, it seemed to be a story about how we cloak ourselves in systems. Even if never designed to work, we can tell ourselves we have a system. And when it doesn't work, we can say the system failed. When it is we who failed. And a little girl died.
