Hello everybody! As an introduction my name is Andrew. I’ve been into weather ever since a little kid. I’ve been forecasting since 2019, and storm chasing since 2021. I’ve seen 20 tornadoes so far.

I’m currently a senior in high school and am going to be somewhere majoring in meteorology next fall!

1/🧵The cost of gutting NOAA’s weather research labs

If Congress approves the current NOAA budget request, here’s what America stands to lose in weather & climate forecasting. (Spoiler: It’s a lot.)

I get asked all the time "why is the European weather model better than the American?".

Today's a good start.

All probationary federal employees at NOAA’s EMC that’s responsible for keeping all US weather model systems running have been fired with 1 hours notice. And that includes me and colleagues. We will not go quietly because we care about the NOAA mission to protect the public.

April 26th, 2024 brought several strong tornadoes to Nebraska and Iowa. I opted to take a different approach early in the day. This storm, closer to the surface low and enhanced 3cape/vorticity, produced a tornado as the precipitation separated downshear of the remnant updraft.

Awesome sunset in Illinois tonight!!

This solution for Illinois and parts of the US has toned down. Now maybe light snow accumulation for Illinois if anything at all. This is due to a weaker system and also the phasing between vort maxes not aligning #ilwx #WxSky

First measurable snow appears to be possible Mid Next for many in Illinois. Placement, and strength of the system are still uncertain, but ensembles are painting a picture which gives low to medium confidence for accumulating snow. #Wxsky #ILwx

This long-duration, intense atmospheric river is beginning today in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest — there is a high risk of excessive rainfall (the highest possible category) with over 10 inches of rain expected through the next few days:
