I've release a new solo/coop TTRPG about mapping a journey through the Milky Way with your immortal and unusual crew. It's inspired by the High Frontier Interstellar board game I helped develop but goes much, much further: to the galactic core and beyond! half-apress.itch.io/a-lot-of-zer...

Or you could take my approach and include every possible political belief and then lampshade this in the introduction.
A lot of TTRPG creators and publishers separate their political beliefs from their work because they don't want to rock the boat or lose potential customers. There are also a few notable instances where the creator in question is very conservative but still wants progressive dollars. (1/)

Got to love it when I accidentally omit a file from a build which results in fixing a more fundamental error. It's the O(1) version of bisect.

Forget space being big. Earth-size planets are so mind numbingly big it’s hard to comprehend.

Writing this and realising how George Lucas deeply cared about the political and economic systems of Star Wars in a way that grounds it much closer to science fiction than I have previously realised.
The science part of science fiction is about making an experiment by varying the parameters of what the world is. If you don’t care about what the world is (quantum physics, that people are usually kind, etc) then your experiment (fiction) isn’t going to speak to the human condition.

I write science fiction because art is better when it has constraints and science is a reasonably well defined set of constraints

Reviews still drive sales in the TTRPG space.
...reliant we are on reviews and outreach channels: this was a year *without* a kickstarter launch, meaning a dry year on revenue. I moved back home in 2024 and I live with my mom, so we don't pay rent and split grocery and bill expenditures, meaning this was enough for us to live but of course...

I think we’re long past the point now that anyone can justify travelling to the US like it’s a normal functional country. Absolutely baffled by people still going there for holidays or conferences.

I’d be outraged too if this was an outrageous event with no precedent. www.statista.com/statistics/5...

The trend of fatal police shootings in the U.S. seems to only be increasing each year, with Black civilians having the highest rates of being killed by police.

The (US)Americans I’ve met are overwhelmingly lovely people who act as if their force of personality could overcome the evils of their empire.

My two take aways:

1. Don’t produce stuff that goes on advertising supported platforms - give it away for free instead.
2. Sell products that have actual value.
Echoing this to say that $1 a month to a creator whose work you like is equivalent to easily a thousand ad-supported views on their videos. Even a little bit of support makes a hugely outsized difference - pick your favourites and support where you can.
Philosophy Tube is made by properly paid artists; no AI slop, no sussy sponsorships from mobile games and mattress companies. If you want there to still be a place for proper art on the internet then please support your friendly neighbourhood content creator, whether that’s me or someone else ❤️

Who called it Mothership and not LoopOSR?
How many Mothership modules about time loops do you know? I can count 4.

(They're all pretty good.)

For no particular reason I'm thinking about how my near future TTRPG splits from our current reality in 2015 and is deliberately vague about how the next 25 years plays out.
If you're not sure whether or not you'll like Sixty Years in Space, my 2300 page hard sci fi TTRPG, you can download the first 74 pages of the Crewed Rules from half-apress.itch.io/60-years-in-... along with the chapter on space-based infrastructure and terraforming, which runs to another 26 pages.

Thinking again about the next project after Sixty Years in Space and can’t come up with anything better than writing a book of poetry.

Probably makes more financial sense than anything in the games industry.

Going to make a game called “accessible chess” where each piece’s moveset randomly changes after each move is played.
we spent so much time and work on accessibility though, there's even non-permadeath modes, modes where combat is rare, controller support, haha.

honestly true roguelikes are some of the most physically accessible games, being fully turn based, and even sometimes screen reader supported!
