In recent days, Israel has allowed in small quantities of aid, though it is far below the needs of starving Palestinians.</p> <p>The World Food Programme recently warned that "a third of Gaza's 2.4m population "has not eaten for several days".&nbsp;</p> </div> </div> </article>

Airdrops have been widely criticised by humanitarian officials as symbolic and insufficient compared to allowing sustained truck deliveries through land crossings.</p> <p data-end="1335" data-start="1017">The Israeli army also said it would support the expansion of a water desalination plant in Gaza by connecting it to Israeli electricity. Israel has itself destroyed much of Gaza's water and electricity infrastructure.</p> <p data-end="1564" data-is-last-node data-is-only-node data-start="1337">Aid groups and UN officials have long called on Israel to fully lift its blockade and grant unrestricted access to humanitarian assistance, warning that piecemeal efforts fall short amid deepening famine and widespread disease.</p> </div> </div> </article>

Love that this thread is being revived.

For Islamic Studies: that most of what is popularly called "shari`a" is actually fiqh.

For Middle East history: that the region is 'riven by conflict'.

For both: that Muslims & Jews (or Muslims & Christians) have been 'at war for a thousand years'.
