Random Friday Art Share from my collection: This is the first original art I ever purchased. A Savage Sword of Conan page by John Buscema and Tony DeZuniga. Impeccable work by these two giants. Tony is my favorite of all of the b&w Buscema Conan stuff. He doesn't overwhelm like Chan, Alcala, etc.

Henry Perry, the father of Kansas City barbecue, and the creator of a sauce recipe that was "harsh and peppery". Arthur Bryant would eventually make it a tad sweeter when he took over the business & it is still the greatest sauce in the world.

And yes, folks ate some crazy shit a hundred years ago.

In 1946, cartoonist & illustrator Noel Sickles was sent by Life magazine to sketch the Nuremberg trials. Here is his sketch of the execution of Joachim Von Ribbentrop, who claimed at trial that his boss had made all of the important decisions, & that he was only following orders.

I hate cliches about writing, especially "that one", but the sad truth is that - to finally put the scene that has now cost me a full week of my working life to bed - I'm gonna have to lose the bit of it that I most cherished.

Damn. Catherine O’Hara was such a brilliant goddess. Rest in peace.

They've arrested their first "prominent" journalist. A relatively unpopular one, but one the courts already told them to leave alone. Just, you know, testing the waters.

I am but an amateur expert at best, but I suspect we're seeing a lot of sweet Terry Austin backgrounds on this Power Records Batman page by Neal Adams and Dick Giordano (1975). We know Terry worked with Dick around this period, and the sharpness of the lines is pretty unique.

Bald Donald's first response to the Omar attack was that she staged it herself. Why would he think such a thing, I wonder?

Heads up: TCM is showing this short film/documentary, People on Paper, about classic comic strip artists at 10am central today. If you want to dvr, you need to record the film before it (Something Always Happens).

Brady’s annoying voice and constant prattling are made worse by the fact that we all know he doesn’t need this gig.

This loss belongs to known asshat Sean Payton, who coached as if he still had a valid qb. Take the field goal, jackass.

I don’t like these teams. Maybe I’ll just watch Josh Allen rip his franchise apart with four turnovers again.

The bare minimum every American should be able to agree on is that no law enforcement has the right to kill a controlled suspect. Arguing otherwise is arguing for a police state, and that is thoroughly unamerican.

They reflect him perfectly: untrained, unfit, murderous, utterly selfish and profoundly racist.

My rooting interest in the AFC Championship game will be for a gaping chasm in the earth, Bane-style.

1- F The Dodgers.
2- Bring on the lockout (next year)
3- Bring on a salary cap (and floor)

I'm really disappointed for Jesse Plemons. He didn't just deserve to be nominated for Best Actor (Bugonia). He deserved to win.

Hey! I just try to follow the penciller's intent usually, assuming that some of my style will come through. There's a mid-century fashion illustration influence - filtered through Stan Drake and Dick Giordano - that gives my linework a sharpness that seems to always show itself.
@andeparks.bsky.social how do you keep the penciler's artistic vision alive while also making the work your own?

This season defines Josh Allen. When it really matters most, he plays like a jackass.
