Tried a local Scottish Highland Games comp for the first time ever yesterday. Having done 3/5 of the major ones now, I can confidently say strength sports are the fucking best.

someone i admire and listen to said to me recently “fuck you is like a sledgehammer, good for knocking things down but you’re gonna need other tools to rebuild.”
more and more these days, I find myself thinking that you can accept the discipline of your political goals or you can accept the discipline of your resentments.
Seeing a lot of “But they don’t deserve…” And no, of course they don’t. What the fuck does that have to do with anything? The house is on fire. Pass a bucket to whoever wants to put it out. You can remind them what an ass they’ve been later.

i understand in theory why conservatives want to bring back the 1920's, 1950's or 1980's but trying to bring back 2005 is a wholly new kind of depraved freak shit

God, this SUCKS.
So, the National Endowment for the Arts announced today that they are reworking the guidelines for all 2026 grants and will be prioritizing projects that center the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It's now just a propaganda fund.

Just saw a man in Wilton Manors with a full Muppet outfit on — Kermit socks, Miss Piggy printed shorts, Muppet character medley shirt — in case you need to be reminded there is still beauty all around us.

My gf just came to me with a concerned look on her face asking if I’ve ever seen a truck with “a replica of human scrotum” hanging on the back, & I just had to be like “Yeah baby, those are truck nuts. They’re around.” She was disappointed in the response.

Early compliance is so fucking frustrating. Of course, no one should be following any of this shit but especially right now, no one should be doing anything at all.

transition has been mostly DIY and community-organized since forever. when you're ready, figure out what you can offer and what you need. talk in real life, use signal, get creative, don't get caught. they can't break us in a way that matters!!!! I love you.

A reminder: a law that dehumanizes & subjugates a group of people is immoral & iniquitous. That means we have a moral imperative to break it until we don’t have to anymore, regardless of the risks or consequences.

Wrote about David Lynch, how goddamn funny his work is, & how he changed the way I look at the things that scare me. So grateful I got to exist at the same time he did for a while. Long live incongruity as a means of imagining a better future.
