Permanently tired PhD candidate and PGR President at St Andrews / Medievalist and Art Historian / Cathedrals, patronage, archiepiscopacy, liturgy / she/they
Pinned
👋🏻 I'm Amy, a second-year PhD candidate at the University of St Andrews. I work in the School of Art History on 13th-15th century archiepiscopal patronage of York Minster, episcopal residences, and some suffragan churches. Currently working on a chapter, and paper for a research forum!
It's been a whirlwind of a fortnight - we held the first Postgraduate Symposium for the School of Art History and Museum & Heritage Studies, my wonderful sister came to see Scotland for the first time (and loved it!), and I've assumed my elected post as Postgraduate Research President!

Last month, the Trust had the privilege of offering scholarships to five PGRs and ECRs to attend the Harlaxton #Medieval Symposium. Each YHT Scholar has shared their thoughts on the experience on our #blog, which you can read here: yorkisthistorytrust.org/2025/09/18/y... #MedievalSky #Skystorians

Melvyn Bragg has been one of the last standard-bearers for a really important, and unfashionable, idea: that good conversation, between people who really know their stuff, on complex or difficult subjects, can be fantastic radio - and that the national broadcaster should do this.

I hope it endures.
Melvyn Bragg has decided to stand down as host of In Our Time, the BBC says.

The 2025 Harlaxton Medieval Symposium is over, but not an experience I’ll forget. Thank you again to the convenors, and to @yorkisthistory.bsky.social for a scholarship which allowed me to be part of this exceptional occasion.

There is something inexplicable about my love for maps
This strip map by John Ogilby shows 'The Road From Exeter to Barnstable & Thence to Ilfracomb', and dates back to c 1675.

Can you spot Exeter on the map? 🔍

It’s 2nd December and time for the next festive treat on our #adventcalendar.

The chapel screen is one of only a few original features left from the 15th century chapel.

Here it is in all its sunlit glory.
