Happy #MixedAsianDay! Mixed folks have a special kind of radar, but I find that parents of mixed kids pick up on it too 😆
A mini comic in honor of Mixed Asian Day, a day for celebrating multi-cultural Asian identities (biracial, adoptees, etc), titles “The Radar”. Based on a true story, the comic opens with people out to brunch, the artist labeled on the right, while a blond woman and a baby in a high chair can be seen on the left. The artist senses something, and glances over. The baby at the next table, with a dark brown bowl cut, is staring intensely at the artist. Alternating cells of the artist smiling back at the baby and waving hello, while the baby continues to stare unwaveringly, the frame getting closer and closer. The parents notice their child’s gaze and apologize to the artist, stating that normally the child doesn’t show much interest in strangers. The artist laughs it off and credits it to The Radar, implying that the baby is able to sense that the artist is multicultural because the baby is also multicultural. The parents, now more clearly shown to be a multicultural couple, take a second to comprehend what the artist means and actually take a good look at the artist. In the last frame, realization and understanding dawns on them

An old video of Boba from when we first adopted him. I spent so much money on several orthopedic beds for him and yet he preferred my thigh or stomach to rest his head 😂 It’s been over 2 yrs since his ascension - feels so much harder facing the horrors without my 100lbs house hippo
