This is a frequent mode of transportation in western #Washington for people who live on one of our many islands, the Olympic Peninsula, and along populated shorelines. I forget how special ferry rides are, until visiting friends get excited to experience it themselves.

An old door made out of what appears to be uneven sheets of aging copper layered over each other in a patchwork design, covering a large entry door. There’s a small, narrow slot at the top with a smaller, privacy door covering it. There are three large metal straps stretching across the front of the door where the hinges are. And there’s a large iron latch and door pull on the left. The door is surrounded by old red brick and worn railroad ties creating the frame. What stands out is the shiny silver metal threshold that looks brand new.
