An old Edgmond custom was known as 'Ringing the Dead home'. This involved chiming the church bells continually, instead of the usual sombre tones. The bells stopped when the coffin reached the lych gate. It was thought proper to welcome the dead to their new home. 🪦

Brooms are often thought to have luck and protective powers. A new broom invites prosperity if you first sweep into your house. When a broom falls over, company will soon arrive. To sweep away nightmares, hang a broom on the back of your bedroom door.✨
