I was today years old when I discovered that some people pronounce the ‘p’ in ‘excerpt’! Fascinating! I’ve always pronounced it with a silent p and this is a hill I will die on! 😂 Is this a UK/US thing?

Excuse the moan but I’m cross with Atom who’ve dropped the interest rate on our savings twice in 2 months. We’ve only been with them 2.5 months & already thinking of moving our little savings pot. Chase were just as bad. Can anyone recommend a more reliable savings bank or are they all this bad?

Huge THANKS to the lovely lady who saw me limping at Waterloo Station thanks to new shoes making me bleed, & stopped me to offer a plaster - thus restoring my faith in humanity & the sisterhood! Thank you! ♥️😊😍

A brilliant thread about the messy magic that comes from real, human creativity…
So. AI audiobooks. Thing is, sharing stories is one the oldest human activities, a truly beautiful thing, and I don’t understand people who think AI can bring anything to the table… 🧵 1/7

I can confirm this is a fabulously fun book! 😍♥️
The mild pain of being woken up at 5.30am was soothed by reading this fabulous book with Ivor (by @emlynas.bsky.social and illustrator Matt Hunt). Spoiler alert: it’s about a bear and a hare going to a fair

Been watching Goldeneye & possibly controversial opinion - I’m not sure - but Pierce Brosnan is by far my favourite Bond. He’s just the most James Bond-ish somehow!

To anyone struggling to make their art:

THEY WANT YOU TO STOP WRITING/PAINTING/MAKING.

They fear our rich inner lives, beyond even their reach. They fear our revolutionary fantasies, our ungovernable and unprofitable thoughts.

Yes, the obstacles are greater than ever.

So is the need.

The daisy is one of April’s birth flowers. Its name comes from Old English “daeges-eage” meaning day’s eye, inspired by the fact it unfurls its petals to greet the day, and closes them as darkness falls. Its Latin name, Bellis perennis, means “always beautiful”. #nature #folklore

In Appalachian folk belief, the first flower you saw in spring foretold the year ahead—violets meant love, dandelions meant struggle, and buttercups warned of betrayal. People walked slow and mindful on those first warm days, hoping to find the right omen. #FolkloreSunday

One of the most common arguments you hear from fans of generative ‘AI’ is that it’s not plagiarizing people’s work, it’s just learning like a human learns. So I’m going to break down why that’s just not true, and why it can never be true, with the existing systems. 1/
