they bundle this up as efficiencies and saving tax dollars but it’s ultimately going to be mass layoffs of govt jobs across the country - which means less tax income and more unemployment. not to mention the sheer disaster of the loss of some of these very essential govt services.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

Here's the difference. Democratic officials do not set out to harm people. When people disagree strongly they may experience real pain from policies they revile. But the point is not to cause harm.
