Mom, writer, cancer survivor, and pun enthusiast who easily gets distracted by sparkly things.📍Ossining, NY

Guess I never made a proper introduction here. I was born and raised on Long Island and have lived in Ossining, NY for the past decade. Currently a SAHM to a 7, 4, and 2 year old, but I'm a writer and editor by trade. (Once my brain power comes back, I hope to write children's books.)

This protracted time is going to be known as Elongate in the history books.

I've done many stupid things in my lifetime, but the stupidest has to be going to Costco the Friday before a snowstorm and the Superb Owl. Thirty minutes waiting to get out of the parking lot and counting.

My biggest non-political annoyance is this EPSIPS truck that has been delivering ice-cold Epsips to Ossining for years and hasn't fixed its doors.

The local price of gasoline has gone up 10¢/gallon in the past week, and let's not talk about the price of eggs. But the Gulf of America has changed my life exponentially!

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in

On this eve of our MLK Jr holiday. We are all on edge. I have this feeling like we are at the end of democracy and my rights will disappear.

I urge you all to not give up, that’s the easy way and it will end democracy.

MLK Jr said it best but we have to help bend it further towards justice.

47 is already wasting taxpayer money with the new official portrait. It looks nearly identical to his mugshot, so why not just push it through his buddy's Grok AI bot to change the background? Governmental efficiency!

I'm Amanda Mapsi on my credit card, which no longer has a signature strip. My signature on the e-pad looks like ANGRY NARWHAL. No one cares.

The porn bots on BlueSky are out in full force today. More blocks than a kindergarten classroom.

You know what's not pleasant? Getting candy cane shrapnel in your eye. An injury I never thought I'd get. Trying to fish it out with a tissue while it melted into mentholated goopiness was an... experience. I can still see, but I think it knocked my vision down 10 feet in my right eye.

The gym is unusually quiet for January 2. I was able to get a swim lane all to myself.

Someone pointed out that 1990 is as far from us as 2060. Not true, the Nineties were only a decade ago. #CheckYourMath

First #bird visit of the new year goes to this Carolina wren. It was through my #BirdBuddy camera I learned that all the post-norovirus laundry my husband did is now in a heap on the muddy grass, because the wind snapped our clothesline last night 🙃

"Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink, and swore his last oath. Today, we are a pious and exemplary community. Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient shortcomings considerably shorter than ever." - Mark Twain

What I miss about old Twitter is the ability to jump on and find out what was going on in my neighborhood immediately (like the answer to, "What were those four loud explosions?" or the reason why traffic is at a standstill). Bluesky isn't there quite yet.

IKEA's marketing team knew what it was doing here. (And if they get sacked, their healthcare is affordable.)

Libraries matter now more than ever. They stand for the powerful idea that knowledge is free and belongs to everyone. In a time when books and free thought are under threat, we must defend and support our libraries and librarians—they are guardians of access, learning, and freedom.
