Urgent: We've learned that USDA funding cuts will prevent 630,000 lbs of food from reaching Second Harvest of Silicon Valley.

This would've been distributed to our most vulnerable neighbors–– and was to be sourced from US farmers, who are now losing out on crucial revenue.

We need your help

I’ve spent eight long years helping women access capital. Can you imagine what would happen if they suddenly didn't need to?

...I believe we're about to find out.

My latest for @fortunemagazine.bsky.social - seedstrapping, tiny teams, and how AI will blow the doors of entrepreneurship wide open.

In general, if you're building for $10M - $50M markets (sound big but actually small), you may not be a fit for venture capital.

That doesn't mean you can't still build a valuable impactful business.

But try bootstrapping or grants or angels, and don't bother pitching to VCs.

LinkedIn is definitely the main VC hangout these days. Wondering how Bluesky will end up fitting in…

Here’s something to think about as you kick off 2025: ✨We are all stardust.✨

Every atom of oxygen in our lungs, of carbon in our muscles, of calcium in our bones, of iron in our blood—was created inside a star before Earth was born.

I wish I had infinite library holds
Books I read this year! All highly recommended:

Whispering Wood by Sharon Shinn (fantasy, the latest installment in her Elemental Blessings series)

A Necessary Chaos by Brent Lambert (an excellent SF thriller/romance)

The Water Outlaws by S.L Huang (I put this on all my award ballots)

I’m about halfway through @musaalgharbi.bsky.social’s book We Have Never Been Woke and it’s already clear that it should be required reading.

Getting concerned, though, that the last chapter is *not* going to be a silver bullet easy fix for the entrenched problems he is describing… ☠️😢
