I haven’t cried for a celebrity since Robin Williams’ death. I cried for Rob Reiner this morning. My sister and I were talking about how terrible people made some of our favorite content from growing up but Rob was a bright light and is gone way too soon.

I told my wife how I want to be an artist then followed it up with at what point does someone become an artist? I’ve made art my whole life but I still don’t consider myself an artist.

Do you become one when you have your first show or do you wake up one day and decide that’s who you are?

I get that USPS workers have a hard time but being extremely critical of how we label the mailbox on our house isn’t going to help. We complained the carrier was holding our mail but it’s our fault for not listing my wife’s deadname on the box for the once in awhile mail that is addressed like that.

Fiona and Cake calling out KAB for being too expensive is the validation I never thought I would receive.

“All Hallows” by Christopher Golden captures the ambience of a 1980s Halloween that we all crave. I’m not usually a fan of multiple perspectives but Golden weaves together a story about a neighborhood loosing all its innocences on one night.

Love how it feels like absolute darkness in my living room at 4 pm.

9/11 started an era of fear, hatred, and division in this country. I woke up seeing the news of Mamdani’s victory over a political dynasty that ran on that fear and hatred. I feel the sun rising on a new era that embraces joy and diversity. Congratulations to the new America’s Mayor and NYC.

Slewfoot by Brom was excellent. It blended folk horror with folk lore beautifully. My only note would be even more vengeance.

I visited my favorite metaphysical shop in Portsmouth like I do multiple times a year but I left so disappointed. I reached out to the store online and they responded by thanking me for letting them know instead of apologizing. It’s more of a gift shop than a true witchy store anyways.

My sister and her kids are out of the house! Thank the goddess they are safe and begin to heal. It’s still a long road for my sister but this was such a big step and I’m so proud of her.

I am tried of being trapped in this abusive, narcissistic relationship of an administration. Every person who lives in the USA, including those who are undocumented, deserves so much more than this bull shit.

My sister is starting to separate from her husband and I really want to do something extra nice for her and my nibblings. I have no idea what to do but I just want them to feel extra loved through this first holiday season.

I was so excited for Welcome to Derry but that excitement was laughed away during the lamp scene. So goofy. The writing for the relationships between the kids was done well which is why I love the original story so I’ll return next week.

My little always acts not interested in a nap but as soon as I get him in my arms, singing to him it’s lights out almost instantly.

We’re going to Kennebunkport next week for a family vacation and we definitely need it. I can’t wait for seafood. Maybe I should leave my phone at home.

“We Have Always Lived in a Castle” by Shirley Jackson felt familiar, like a story you heard on the playground as a kid. It mostly reminded me of Lizzy Borden. Jackson’s writing is impeccable of course.

I long for a big coffee shop with many comfortable chairs and isn’t a Starbucks. My town has one coffee shop inside an old garage and everyone from the Upper Valley pack themselves in like sardines.

I picked up Slewfoot by Brom today. It was sold out at one store and I grabbed the last copy at a different store. Both store clerks were excited I brought it up. I think this is going to be a good read.
