Sources say transfers of employees from NOAA research to other line offices are being denied. Does the administration fear the corrupting influence of those engaged in NOAA research? Or maybe it's punitive? Either way, seems like NOAA research personnel are being blacklisted.

More than a month ago, the Trump administration told the NWS to hire meteorologists and other specialists for 126 vacant positions in depleted forecast offices around the country.

But those jobs have yet to even be posted on the federal government's official hiring website. Why?
E&E News: A month after getting permission, NWS still hasn’t posted help wanted ads
Amid the Texas floods and a month into hurricane season, significant vacancies exist across the National Weather Service.

Today is the top of the month release of the NOAA CPC ENSO diagnostic discussion (EDD), and it will be the first time in 11 years that Climate.gov isn't releasing an associated ENSO blog update. It would have contained an updated version of this graph. [1/4]

The public needs access to accurate information about climate change, because it enables them to take appropriate action. Without accurate information, none of us will be able to make smart decisions for ourselves, the coming generations, or the wider natural world.
A decade after the Paris Agreement, climate action is being derailed by misinformation

A major study finds fossil fuel interests, think tanks and the media are spreading disinformation, delaying policy, and deepening the crisis.

I suppose if you're going to cut all of research at NOAA, there's no need for a program that supports early career scientists. This will likely also have a chilling effect on what students choose to study in grad school.
As of today, all current NOAA Climate and Global Change postdoctoral fellows have been furloughed due to the Dept of Commerce not releasing the funding for the program. In addition no new Fellows were awarded this year. cpaess.ucar.edu/cgc

Climate.gov was a non-partisan science communication website that acted as a bridge between NOAA scientists and the public. The site’s content is now under the control of political appointees who are free to spin as they see fit. It’s a violation of NOAA’s scientific integrity policy.

Characterizing this as an effort to centralize and consolidate is a post hoc, 'after the fact' rationalization for what was done. As has been laid out in numerous news articles, this was about silencing Climate.gov.
