I told a group of art students this very thing last year. the question was, why make art now/what's the role of the artist in turbulent times. there was more to this but the gist of my answer was to stand firm in our values, that we must know what we're fighting for, so we remain stable, unshakable.

In the same way it's frustrating seeing the same conversations—with the same resource lists & advice—pop up now that were had during Standing Rock, Ferguson, BLM, more, it is equally frustrating that conversation in the witch scene has likewise not progressed re: effective magickal resistance.

As someone who's been teaching witchcraft online and working as a spiritworker primarily online since before witch influencers were a thing, since before etsy witches, since before everyone was a brand, social media has become so hard.
I miss the social aspect, the ease of connecting with people.

When we speak of land spirits, it's not some monolith of spirits to which we’re referring, it is not a nebulous force of energy that can be tapped into & manipulated.
We are only speaking of unique spirit with whom you share the land, whom you encounter ever day of your life.

As someone who is on a computer a lot (writer, hi), I have a habit of opening a new word document at the start of the month and jotting down quotes, ideas, random thoughts, and musings throughout the month. It's interesting to look back at the start of a new month to see what themes surfaced.
