if you're confused by how action abroad could be congruous with "America First" (perhaps from assuming the slogan reflected a purely domestic agenda), then try mentally replacing "America First" with the synonymous "America Above All"

I was reflecting today: every year since at least 2014 has been its own kind of existential struggle, so that I've long since given up on hoping for the new year to be "better" than the year before

"By wearing one of our masks on top of your mask from home, it helps us know that the mask you are wearing is clean and effective." I'd accept this (and have in the past) if there were a minimum standard of efficacy you were trying to ensure, but there isn't! you don't require masks!

"If you choose to use your own mask, you must wear a facility-issued face mask on top of your own N95 respirator or face mask": this is what really upsets me, because it makes no goddamn sense and stigmatizes mask wearing

patients & visitors "strongly encouraged, but not required, to wear a facility-issued face mask," plus advice if you have fever, symptoms, or recent known infection: not great, not a meaningful change, but better to say something than nothing I guess
