What happens when Starfleet’s rule of non-interference collides with religion, politics, and culture?

From Bajor under the Occupation to Voyager being worshipped as a god, the Prime Directive shows us the limits of utopian ideals.

All my life, the purpose and utility of the Arts and Humanities have been questioned.

This moment in time, the cultural precipice we stand on the edge of — it is precisely why.

Now we will need them most.

Hold them tightly.

The tempest cannot take them if you don’t let go.

I cry as hard when Quellek dies in Galaxy Quest as I do when Spock dies in TWOK. Dr. Dane goes, in one film, from Nimoy's "I Am Not Spock" to "I Am Spock," at first hating the role that made him famous before realizing the impact his role, and acting, has made on the individual and the world.
