The only way I’ve been able to make progress with anything in my life is to say “as much as possible” instead of saying “ALL THE TIME” or “EVERY DAY.”
That way it’s still progress towards the goal.
AND you don’t beat yourself up and end up resenting the process.

Now more than ever we need artists, writers, musicians, dancers - all those who have to create no matter what - to be pushing the boundaries. Fuck being safe and doing things because “that’s what’s expected.” Make art that is true, not acceptable.

There's such a thing as working hard and making progress, and then there's the making it harder because "that's the way it's always been done." Or even worse - "Well, I learned how to ____ on an old piece of shit so you should too." Learning should be exciting, not a chore. Apply that anything.
