I Enjoy Ice Cream, How About You?

Pandemic aware progressive. I like anthropology, stability, writing, making art, laughing, living in the present while caring about the future, and lemon custard ice cream.

I like safe spaces.

I like "like" lists.

Thanks for reading!

If it's someone else's nice thing, bash it.
Boast loudly.
If blamed, point and cry, "They did it!"
If it won't stay bashed, stomp foot, point at opposers and cry, "Bad! Nasty!"
If bored: "Gimme candy or I'll bash more nice things!"

How Trump, MAGA, narcissists, and toddlers try to run the world
How MAGA's justifies aggression: "We're violent like wolves, not placid like sheep. Violent is the natural way to be."

OK, so, sure, people have violent urges. But guess what? There's a difference between leashed and unleashed violence.

We rely on policies of non-violence more than we know.

Remember when the exposure of wrongdoing made it stop at least a little?

Remember when people tried so hard not to look evil that they kinda, sorta reined in their evil behavior?

Remember when evil wasn't a virtue?

I just checked and DJT stock has lost 20% in the last 5 days. Friday it closed at the lowest closing price since it became DJT, if I read the charts right.

Is it mean of me to wish it keeps plunging?

I had never heard of the "Patriotic Millionaires." Very interesting.
Under Trump, the IRS has been gutted and crackdowns on wealthy tax cheats quietly shelved. Meanwhile, everyday Americans pay taxes on every paycheck.

This is what oligarchy looks like: the rules are optional for the rich & mandatory for everyone else.

DJT stock is down 32% in the past month.

Down 58% in the past year.

And unless I'm reading the charts wrong, it closed at the lowest price ever today.

Elections need to be redone when elected officials switch parties during their term.

When it comes down to it, voters are not voting for a person. They're voting for a plan.

When they change the plan they were voted in for - that's a no.

The far right does not care if millions of people die or are sickened unnecessarily.

Even if the victims are among their own.

They like it.

Their moral model is competitive, not cooperative.

It is the saved/damned model and it says they must prove they are richer and more blessed than others.

I'm struggling with word limits. Anyone know - how do we structure longer posts? I've tried doing separate posts and also stacking comments onto the first post. But Bluesky doesn't format it nicely.

How can I do a longer train of thought without linking out or putting all the text in an image?

MAGA is about trespass. Trespassing on the rights of individuals and on the public's rights.

ALL conservatives trespass when they legislate for the rights of the rich to profit off the poor but AGAINST the rights of the poor to profit off of the rich.

It's trespass they defend, not a free market.

I just noticed the world now resembles the first two Tim Burton Batman movies.

The criminal oligarchs, the health assaults, the mass crazy...all of it.

Only - where's Batman? 😞

Where does the illusion that COVID is milder now come from?

The belief that humans are somehow blessed, and nature revolves around our needs. So NATURALLY a disease would just...go.

No. Nature adapts. Nature is reality-based, not wish-based.

We have to adapt and base ourselves in reality, too.

I don't understand. Do the Senators who are caving think the American people actually believe the shutdown is the Democrats' fault? And so they're...what...caving to reassure the American people of...what? That Trump's propaganda was true?

I honestly don't get it. Why are they caving?

The ideological model that underpins our world today was borrowed from Christianity by capitalists in the 19th Century at the end of the Industrial Revolution. It is the "saved/damned" model and tied virtue to work.

Letting people go hungry is a form of disenfranchisement.

Somebody who has been left to starve has essentially been robbed of their free voice. They must favor the plan that will feed them, and their kids.

Trump is trying to position himself as the only hope of the starving, after starving them.

You can't cure the world. But someone of wealth could do this for at least one stricken urban area.

Where the goal is not to give minimal care. But the BEST care. The kind of care that shows marginalized people that they are FIRST priority.

That funds full, state-of-the-art healthcare for anyone who can book an appointment, with priority given to locals in poverty?

Aiming to treat Long COVID, reproductive care, surgeries, specialist medicine, and anything else you care about?

Very interesting stuff, this essay about "Republican messaging." It's a useful model for how to understand the twisted perspective of many right-wing politicians and voters.

Many Trump supporters seem to have allergies in the family. So they elect an administration that severely cuts the power of the FDA regulatory agency.

Likely result: a backslide in allergen warning transparency, i.e., "may contain" statements.

Allergen warnings are for the public interest. Duh?

I am furious at what my tax dollars are going to support this year.

There should be a way to tick boxes requiring that they go to healthcare, public health, a Universal Basic Income, education, public spaces, scientific research, and cooperative global relations.

Instead of...this.

If this one thing were said during every conflict, I swear it would solve world peace.

"Blah blah."
(THE MAGIC WORDS) "State your assumptions."
"Oh, right. Blah and blah."
"Oh! I get it now! Blah blah."
"Hmm. State *your* assumptions."
"Sure. Blah and blah..."
"Oh, I see. Well OK bye...."
"Bye..."

I'm feeling like a player in The Homeward Bounders. Like our lives are being played with by egotistical entities who think of us as game pieces.

For most of us, issues of finance and the economy are not a game. They're survival.

For Trump and his oligarchy, the economy is about ego and status.

Trump isn't worried by the stock market going down catastrophically, or inflation skyrocketing.

That's because the people of America are not people to him. All we are to him is the TV audience for the reality TV show he's living in.

This is worth a re-read:
