“The GOP’s China hawks were never committed to a generational contest with Beijing. They were, from the beginning, opportunists leveraging the specter of China for domestic political advantage. Their instincts: retrenchment, isolation, and domestic militarization.”

The literal Nazis and fascists that are trumps inner circle are starting to build a permission structure for Trump and the republicans to murder Americans.

The infrastructure for at scale Fascist violence is being constructed out in the open now.

We are rapidly running out of time.

The US Global Change Research Program's website, including all its sub-domains that host the National Climate Assessments and related reports, is now offline.

The 1990 Global Change Research Act (see below) mandates its research findings be available to all federal agencies & departments.

Journalists keep asking me, baffled, “What’s the Trump administration really trying to do to the science agencies?”

So I say “They are trying to destroy them. Cut off their funding, ruin their facilities, harass their staff into leaving.”

It’s not reform, and it never was. It’s destruction.

Shows pretty clearly that Trump got rolled by Netanyahu - the same “we will attack with or without you” gambit that every other president back to Obama managed to resist, and Trump just crumpled like dry leaves.

Your now-regular reminder that no tax cut has ever paid for itself.

Ever
CBO just estimated the macrodynamic impact on the cost of the GOP bill - i.e., "is this bill going to help the economy so much that it pays for itself?"

CBO said that the bill pays for just 3.5% of itself - w/ a tiny upfront economic boost that declines over time. Legitimately embarrassing for Rs.

For the POTUS/CIC of US armed forces to require at this moment a military parade in his own honor is perhaps the hugest small-dick-energy move in history or even conceivable. I am struggling to imagine a possible decision that would more fundamentally reveal venal insecurity and a collapsed ego.
