Listen, I don’t know what’s going to happen, and I don’t know what I’m going to do when it does, but this is my dog, so at least I’ve got one thing going for me

Is there a special dog (or cat [or person]) in your life who needs to know what a special good boy (or girl [or person]) they are? If the answer is no, you should go adopt a pet (or person). If the answer is yes, you should check out this shop. #noprime #wasthattrending #didimissit #fuckbezos

Since 2021, nearly 23,000 books have been banned—proof that fear still wields a red pen. They’re trying to erase stories of race, identity, and love because they can’t erase the people who live them.

Read defiantly.
Share loudly.
Rebel with a book.

My newest writerly self-sabotage is printing pages single-spaced to save paper and thinking it’ll still be easy to make line edits. #regrats

Me: … okay, but what if I dye my hair about it?

As a child on car trips, I worked through stacks of Mad Libs books. It occurs to me only now that really, if not for that early indoctrination, I probably wouldn't be an angry leftist. This is why we have to control children's literature. How about some Trad Libs? #thisissarcasm #plsnotradlibs

Spent approx. three and a half hours babysitting our poor bottom-of-the-line consumer-grade printer as it chugged out five manuscripts’ worth of pages. That, a cat carrier, and some background Unibroue forms a pretty decent self-portrait, I feel.

I like this. Since under RFK Jr, Covid shots are now for people with underlying conditions that put them at risk, Michigan’s chief medical executive Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian states that not having the most recent Covid shot constitutes such an underlying condition.

I wanna signal boost this - I am looking to recruit a prospective PhD student to join my Stress and Health Equity lab at the University of Delaware in HDFS. My research concerns biopsychosocial mechanisms of health across the life course with an emphasis on stress and coping.

The most common lie I tell: “I don’t know what the fuck you think you’re doing.”

I almost always know what the fuck you think you’re doing; I’m just disappointed in you for doing it.

Tables turning so fast these days I’m starting to think we’re sitting at a lazy susan …
Attorney General Pam Bondi: "There's free speech and then there's hate speech, and there is no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie, in our society...We will absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech."

I keep saying this. The Right fundamentally are *not* hypocrites. They believe in double standards. For them, double standards are correct, inevitable, and desirable, because the idea that certain groups are better than others and should therefore have more rights is the basis of right-wing ideology
No, the fake “free speech” crowd isn’t going to defend the professor fired for teaching exactly what her course was about. We can stop noting those “failures” now. Let’s move on from calling them hypocrites. They’re not hypocrites! They’re fascists, authoritarians, or apologist.

The problem with words like "petty" and "childish" is that they minimize the very real, existential threat. That said … petty and childish. Dangerous and scary and embarrassing.
No one would be confused about what is happening here if they saw it in another country.

As a Millennial who is both trans-positive and a vampire novelist, I feel personally victimized by coming of age in the exact target audiences of both Harry Potter (which I loved) and Twilight (which I hated). This is obviously what people mean when they talk about generational trauma, right?
