Aurora predictions look interesting for tonight. The current official forecast has it getting good around midnight (can be off by hours). I am already getting pings from my alerts that the kp numbers are climbing, early indicators show us at kp7 now.

Tonight is one of those beautiful clear winter nights we get in Seattle. We get very few, but they're amazing. If you look West and think "I've never seen a star THAT bright!" you're correct! That's the planet Venus. Next to it is Saturn. And then overhead:

If it is clear, I'll probably bring a scope tonight to show off the comet. Probably Westcrest North lot, (maaaaybe Lowman Beach or Constellation Park).
For best viewing, anywhere, bring your eyes and maybe binoculars (any kind!). Telephoto/zoom lenses are also useful! Look West after sunset.

I have confirmed that these locations have decent view lines for the comet from West Seattle: Westcrest Park, Lowman Beach, Constellation Park, the view across from Mee-Kwa-Mooks, & Myrtle Reservoir walking paths.

Aurora alert. We have reached KP 8 on a scale that goes from 0-9. Usually these storms don't last long enough for the KP to still be this high by the time it is dark in Seattle, but the May storm did, so it is worth paying attention today. Clear skies tonight!
