Ledger is a podcast about the craft of writing, from novels to non-fiction to computer code! Stories are an essential part of life. We need them so we seek them out in every way possible. Ledger features interviews with writers across formats and genres to focus on the craft itself, the thoughts and actions that led to stories being written. Greetings from Wytche Daye, the event at the Lloyd Center Double Tree we are vending at. They are "providing" us with a sound bath of singing bowls. With these concrete walls and as many punk shows and I have been to in 30+ years, it just sounds like feedback noise.

Got up early for the event we are vending at today and Buffy cat met me in the kitchen. She usually gets up on the kitchen counter to watch birds and squirrels, but it was dark. I told her that no one had turned the birds on yet.

Okay, but what about a Serial style podcast?
Somebody wanted to do a show about the 2014 lawsuit. No, never, absolutely not.

Unless it was called "Zine House" and a bunch of us just chilled and made zines. The drama would be about whoever took the long-armed stapler out of the collaboration room without returning it.

Several years ago at a zine fest in Brooklyn a guy asked me about drama in the zine world and if there were any big personalities. Turns out he was scouting to produce a reality TV show. Can all we just agree to never let a zine themed reality show exist? #zines

The crows were making a racket and swooping at a hawk on a streetlight this morning. Jack found it all very fascinating.

Coming across the river to Vancouver to a show has the same vibes as old days living in SLC and going up to Ogden or down to Provo for a show. It doesn't help that the opening band sounds a lot like an old SLC band.

Crossing the river to Vancouver for this Monty Vega and The Sittin' Shivas show today. It's also at a brewery, yum!

I'm such a sucker for our crow neighbors silent but looming request for peanuts. They just gather on our front gate and stare in the window. The other day a new back of peanuts arrived in the mail box, and one of them just sat on the mail box waiting. They know we have a whole bag inside.

Ah, SE Snark Street livejournal memories! I made so many silly DP inside joke buttons. #DamnPortlanders
Apparently #DamnPortlanders exists on here now? 😍

These are our 3 crow neighbors out our back door, the closest one we named Tess. She has a busted foot. If you look at the whole photo they are being photo bombed by a squirrel on the fence.

This is my cat friend Jack and my other cat friend Buffy. Jack is very big and very Floofy, is very sweet, but scared of everything. Buffy is very small, has a "lobster claw" paw, is very curious and seriously loves to have her belly rubbed.

The problem is that during the pandemic my wardrobe went from Stevie Nicks to Stevie from Schitts Creek.
@alexwrekk.bsky.social you forgot "dark mori maven" in your profile ;)

Cozy in bed on a rainy Portland late autumn morning. Jack the cat woke me up chattering at the crows out the window. I've lived by the freeway for over 20 years and it still faintly sounds like the ocean.
