I know where there is some exciting & interesting buried ancient treasure.
I can’t be arsed to wrangle with the landowner & the Crown though, so I’ve stayed silent about it for many years.

My new book, just published in North America, UK/Ireland and Australasia, is an attempt to inspire young readers to enjoy and be curious about our relationships with plants. Having had such a sustained and positive reaction to Around the World in 80 Trees and Around the World in 80 Plants, I wanted

Tackling wildlife crime means tackling organised crime❗

Wildlife crime offenders are involved in other serious crimes:
💥 59% linked to violence
💰 58% linked to theft or criminal damage
🐇 For poaching and hare coursing, that rises to over 70%
🚨 27% have links to domestic violence

🇪🇺 Today was my last day in my science editor job for the European Commission.
I’ve worked with some very lovely brilliant people and on some really interesting science - on wildlife conservation & environment.
I’m on my way home now, with nice gifts of flowers and… a new tent (random freebie!) 😃💐🥰

I’m so tired of hearing news I cannot change & feeling crippling guilt & anxiety for things I did not do.

It’s not my bad.
I do everything I can, I have for years.
It’s not my fault.
I’m not in power.
I vote against it.
My carbon footprint has been below 3 tonnes/pa for years.
I live simply.

Imagine being as catastrophically wrong as it’s possible to be about a subject, costing your country’s people huge amounts of money and devaluing their pensions, and STILL being allowed to talk bollocks in national news media opinion pieces.

Loads of people are still clinging to the bad place. Isn’t it weird how difficult it is to convince folk to walk away from the devil they know & choose something better?

I work with a lot of comms people who blame the lack of analytics tools here, but we can simply see that X is worse than useless.

Predictable response to the petition against airport expansion: GrOwTH is what matters above all else (you poor misguided fools), other countries are doing it (so more wrongs make a right?) and technology will magic any environmental problems away (yeah and pigs might fly). To oblivion and beyond!

This essentially means you cannot marry or form a long term relationship with a foreigner - if they fall sick, have a baby, lose their job, or just decide to take a break and write a book about cheeses of the West Country, they can be deported.
Tory policy is to revoke permanent residence (ILR) for everybody who does not earn £38k - deporting most nurses who have ILR

This is put in the video as "who is unlikely to contribute more than they cost"

NB: video does not say EU settled status is exempt

No govt since Idi Amin has done this
