I am outraged by this. How dare UM flagrantly disregard the principles of education by intimidating its students—and using their tuition fees to do it!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—Trump and his cronies are not the problem. America has been sliding into fascism for years now.

I’m glad that the Guardian has identified the clear connections between the rhetoric of the speeches made by Starmer and Enoch Powell. I thought we were 57 years past ‘rivers of blood’, but evidently not…

Let there be no mincing words. We have reached and stepped over a red line. The Trump administration is now deporting US citizens.

Terrifying. I learned about the Gestapo when I was in school, and it was always presented as a vestige of a dangerous past. Little did I know then that the United States would become that past.
This country is becoming unrecognizable. What we’re seeing is state-funded fear. We’ve warned people: keep filming, go live on social media so these moments are documented and shared. This wasn’t a case involving masked ICE agents—but that’s happening too.

Breaking News: The Trump administration moved to cancel lawfully obtained Social Security numbers in an effort to pressure immigrants to “self deport” by cutting people off from using crucial financial services like bank accounts and credit cards, along with their access to government benefits.

Anyone with some understanding how the US economy works knows that it needs immigrant labour to run. Now with violent anti-immigrant policies in the US, Republicans are turning to child labour to keep economies going. In what kind of horror are we?

We absolutely cannot look away from this.
Imagine this: On the evening of March 8, you and your spouse unlock the door to your apartment building. As you step inside, two men—not in uniform—push their way in behind you. They tell you your visa has been revoked and that they are there to deport you.

Again, the point appears to be to inflict harm on students and international scholars—those unlikely to have enough savings to get by. America continues its race to the bottom.

Trump has his brownshirts and now an enormous brown-noser sitting with him in the White House. I am embarrassed to see the PM feeding Trump’s ego like this. It won’t work, Sir Keir!

“Trump is treating the law as coterminous with his own desires.” A terrific piece in the Atlantic on Trump’s fashioning of himself as king—in action and in language.

Be sure to read through the "Assurance of Compliance" notes, which contain a requirement that anyone accepting an NEA grant must adhere to any and all Executive Orders. There is special mention that no grant holder may pursue any DEI initiative or anything that "promote[s] gender ideology."

I don’t even know where to begin on the unethical and cruel nature of Trump’s policies. But as we said during his first presidency, the cruelty is the point.

This is 🔥. My only disagreement is with the suggestion that Trump supporters didn’t foresee this happening. They did.

We have a Constitutional crisis because his voters wanted a Constitutional crisis. We have to convince them that this will lead to destruction for all.

The suggestion that DEI is somehow responsible for the American Airlines crash is cruel and callous—but it’s also not going to play well. The politicisation of grief cannot happen this quickly—it looks too much like scoring cheap political points, even to MAGA stalwarts (I suspect).
