Who doesn't love Christmas?? Well, me actually, I'm a giant Grinch. But it's Christmas in July week or whatever and my next middle grade horror book, CARNIVOROUS CONIFERS, set around Christmastime, comes out tomorrow! The 2nd in my Stein's Monsters series, but is standalone. For fans of Goosebumps!
Watched The Fall of the House of Usher this week and finally found out what y'all were talking about 2 years ago. It's good!

It's the one year anniversary of Split Scream 6 and my novelette, MOTHER IS COMING HOME (@tenebrouspress.bsky.social)!

I put together a playlist that that encapsulates the vibes of MICH and the weird little creep MC.

Wednesday nights this month are filled with 3 hours of climbing (bouldering) league followed by an hour of hockey that gets me home around midnight, and while it's a blast, these Thursdays man, ugh 😴

Spent the afternoon organizing all the native perennial seeds my wife and I collected from our rain garden. Hopefully we can expand the garden with these. Nature!

The last watermelon harvested from our garden was a monster, and perhaps the best tasting watermelon I've ever had. Kinda sad we have to wait until next year to grow more.

Took my son to his first professional hockey game last night (a local AHL team) and it brings me such joy to watch him experience new things. We had a blast, and the takeaway might be just how absurd hot dog cannons are. In his words: "This is getting *too* crazy!" haha

It's really disgusting that the recovering skin around the burn on my arm looks like the edges of a roasted marshmallow.

Then again. Hmm

It's been so long since I've written consistently that I don't even feel like a writer. Like, I know I am, but yikes man, I need to find that shit again

Re-potted our little pawpaws to better accommodate their taproots, planted some black walnut seeds for a tree-growing experiment, and then tomorrow I'm off to my favorite native plant nursery for some more native trees/shrubs/perennials. All of these things are better than everything else, currently

I'm so excited to be a part of the Tenebrous release schedule! I'd trust 10p with anything but song recommendations*

Rolled many small boulders up the hill for 2026 today, & I'm in awe at the variety.
Feels like such a trope-y answer—like a metal guitarist saying "yeah it's both our heaviest & most melodic album yet"—but it's also true.
Next year is bleak AF & Electric Neon.

Who's in for next year's book club?

Got a 2nd deg burn from coffee today at work because a giant idiot set up a ladder behind a closed door and a lesser idiot (me) tried to open the door (that I had just walked thru 2 mins earlier) while carrying a mug full of freshly brewed coffee, spilling said coffee all over my arm. Neat

I wrote and published a dinosaur horror book that not many people have read for a variety of reasons, but I don't think that's going to stop me from writing another because I had fun doing so and it's what I want to do and wtf else matters you know?

The 1 year anniversary of Split Scream 6 is coming up! To celebrate, I had some stickers made.

You can get your own when you order SS6 from @tenebrouspress.bsky.social or by coming up and saying the secret word: “ooze.”

Hail ooze! Hail slime!

We ended up harvesting about 25 pumpkins from our modest yard garden this year, which is awesome. But now I want to try growing gigantic pumpkins, because who doesn't love gigantic pumpkins?

Our family doesn’t have to be perfect to be wonderful. There’s a gale when dawn illuminates our world. The morning light arrives as though leached from my son’s eyes, his gaze cast skyward…
