Another trip to Jersey comes to a close, very enjoyable birding with 3 tern species, lots waders and Brent Geese (Inc 60 PBB), Chiffs, Firecrests. Now to fly into Storm Claudia 🫣😬

This will be of absolutely no interest to anyone, but for my own records, two Corn Bunting over the house this morning were a very welcome garden first!

Putting the (wheelie) bins out, a flock of barnacle geese has just gone over the house (March, ✔️NFG!). Unfortunately no phone to hand to record them. Wild birds, perhaps, displaced by Storm Bernard (or whatever the name is 😂)? #cambsbirds

Final morning birding Jersey, highlight being what is potentially my last Wheatear of the year. Plenty of thrushes, 'crests and CC to keep me looking too. Until next month..👋

Back on Jersey, so thought it would be rude not to go birding in the easterly wind. Noirmont Point was productive with Mipits, finches (mostly Linnet, few Siskin, 2 Bramb) and small flocks of Redwing (c 40) and FF (5). Further up the road, Firecrests (3), CC and S T Treec rounded off the day nicely

First run of the trap in a while was productive with a NFG L-album Wainscot amongst the haul. Also an unseasonal Scarce Silver Lines that looked very out of place amongst it's duller cousins @sj84turner.bsky.social #teammoth

More migrants, with this Delicate last night. Nice little selection with Canary Shouldered Thorn, Large Wainscot and a Rusty Dot Pearl also attracted #teammoth

Had a Clouded Yellow #butterfly on the outskirts of March. Possibly the first I've seen here and I can't recall having seen one in Cambridgeshire before 🤔. No picture, but here's some bluesky for bluesky 🤦

My highlight last night, amongst the numbers here in Fenland, was this Blackneck that flew out of the trap when I was counting its commoner cousins and then didn't cooperate very well after! #teammoth

Moth interest has been ticking along here in Fenland over the last few weeks, albeit with very little variety outside the usual suspects. However this Small Ranunculus looking dapper in the morning light #teammoth

There's been a light, but steady passage of Crossbill over the house (March) during the last few weeks. Mostly 1s and 2s, most mornings, but today saw the first group over. Is this localised movement, or reaching any further in Cambs/elsewhere? #cambsbirds

A reeling Grasshopper Warbler last night, just west of the a141 in March, was a welcome patch tick. Flyover garden Crossbill just now too... autumn birding.. #cambsbirds
