I recently watched Mickey 17, a really interesting movie about "expendables" - people who, now that 3d printing bodies and mind backups are available, take jobs where they're extremely likely to die and when they do, get a new body and restored from backup.

I want to give due credit to those particular ICE agents who are honoring their oaths to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States. Two problems: (a) I can't identify anyone behind those masks, and (b) I haven't yet encountered any account of an ICE agent's meeting this description.

Just finished Alex Rider, and it's one of the very few shows that actually wrapped up the story and finished cleanly. Nice job and you only have to do a little bit of suspending disbelief ;-)

This is Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Tom McCall was the “father of the bottle bill” and other environmental initiatives in Oregon. He was a Republican, and is no doubt spinning in his grave at what the “Rs” have become.

And they aren’t ducks. Geese. Canadian Geese, even. Representing. 🇨🇦
Some ducks have joined one of the #NoKings rallies in Portland, OR!

Also loved the 2nd episode of Doctor Who this season, especially the self-reference and that admission that Blink was by far the best episode ever, though this one was clever enough to be right up there...

Now that I've seen the entire first episode of Murderbot, I have to take back what I said about the first scene - they will be including the backstory.

I'm going to have to reserve judgement on Murderbot - the very first scene was a significant departure from the book, removing the motivation for some of what happens in the books later, but the rest of the first half of the first episode is good.

Another reason I tend to avoid updates: a while back, the app that records my driveway and critter cameras was crashing regularly (after I added the critter camera). I did do an update then and it's been stable...until I did another update the other day, and now it's back to crashing regularly 🙁

I just saw that Vance met with the pope yesterday, just before he died, and I have to say, meeting Vance would give anyone a stroke...

The day Christians around the world celebrate the day the guy they claim to follow (while mostly ignoring everything he said) basically told them all "fuck this shit, I'm outa here - you're on your own now!"
