Since we're patriarching this thing, no man or woman would defend a male writer in these precious, infantilizing terms, mothering a 32-year-old woman only 13 years younger and roughly the age of the newly elected mayor of NYC.

I won't address "dazed compunction."
Possibly the only thing more freakish than Nuzzi's prose is the contortions her defenders twist themselves into. "She's not just hot, but she definitely is hot, while also being a vulnerable smol child. Also, criticizing her is sexist."

I think of Homo Vitruvius as something like my writer's open studio, where I share with readers some of what I've published and some of what I'm working on.

This week, a #poem "Infinite Nocturne," from my collection Waiting for Word.

In dreams, the world steals into us unbidden, or we into ourselves unrecognized. The sources of anxiety are all around us.

"As if I were the intruder himself, I stood on my open windowsill, looking into my own apartment, my own head, before entering."

Often, when you meet people, you meet other people through them, and a kind of chain of connection gets created. When you travel, the links become more varied and colorful.

For your children and grandchildren and theirs to come. For yourselves.

If we don’t want to live on our knees in fear, let’s rise to our feet, in fierce pride, and stand this Saturday.

Let’s rescue for these generations of living Americans a name of which we can be proud.

And it's good only in effect (so far), not intent, because Trump's intentions are only always for himself.
OCT. 7, NEVER should have happened. The horrors never should have been executed by Hamas. I am happy for the families and hostages returned today. But there are 60,000+dead innocents. There are 4,000 children amputees. There is NOTHING in Gaza now except the living nightmare of death and destruction.

What is this -- like the plane in the storm in Almost Famous?

I wrote a trans paper! (Updating for the times.)
I wrote my take-home final for Law of War at 4 a.m., still half-drunk. It was due at 9 a.m. I got a B, which was my school's equivalent of taking you behind the barn and shooting you. It dropped my honors one level. My father was perturbed.
I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

We have reached a level of authoritarianism, let’s use the word FASCISM, where the President, based entirely on lies about violence and disorder, and against the will of the governors of the states, can send hostile state’s National Guard to invade and sit on citizens
Don’t think these Texas National Guard guys are going to be chasing any immigrants around Chicago on foot
