This is true but it’s also important to state that Zohran Mamdani is himself hot and this is not distinct from him being a goofy nerd
zohran mamdani speaks to the dream of every goofy nerd that they, too, can land a mind-shatteringly beautiful woman who's just a little mean but in a cool way

Lucy Dacus singing Bread and Roses 2026 is lit
From Henry Rosoff on X, this is a VERY BASED inauguration lineup. What a way to start a new year. Our City, Our Time 😤

Definitely think all creative people aim for half the world to tune into the climax of their decade long project while in the midst of a New Years Day existential crisis thinking “ugh better slog my way through this 2 hours and 8 minutes I suppose”

As a long time veteran of the hellscape that is the apps, it is notable how in the last couple of years, the number of immediately identifiable far right crazies you come across has sky rocketed

Everyone has a list of so-called "red flags" when they're dating. And for some, especially younger Americans, different political views is a relationship deal breaker.

Have started watching Slow Horses and let’s just say I have a new found respect for Saoirse Ronan’s game

Based on my 4 minute drive to Tesco it appears that every teenage boy in Ballyfermot got a black outfit and an e-scooter for Christmas

It’s a good thing that Pluribus is a love letter to humanity for all our flaws, because if it wasn’t some of the bad takes on it would almost make you think the hive mind might not be so bad after all

The best comedy of the year was undoubtedly provided by the women of the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, but the drone getting wrapped around the lamppost while trying to collect Carol’s rubbish in Pluribus definitely a close second

Was telling someone about this gig a few months ago but could find no trace on the internet of its existence, and briefly wondered if I had experienced the Mandela effect as a 9 year old, so I am grateful to the state papers for providing a genuine public service to me

Newgrange is an amazing feat of engineering but there is also something deeply human and Irish about how they built it for a time of year when the weather is basically never good enough for it to properly work. Anyway the livestream is magic

It’s cool how everyone just gives up on the rules of the road in December

"Reiner’s deft marrying of the prestige and the populist seems like a wondrous, nearly lost art."

A lovely and insightful appreciation from @rilaws.bsky.social.
Critic’s Appreciation: Rob Reiner Was So Much More Than a Capable Company Man
The director's deft marrying of prestige and populism in classics like 'When Harry Met Sally…' and 'The Princess Bride' now seems like a wondrous lost art.

I always watch When Harry Met Sally at New Years but I think this year I might have to do the full run from Spinal Tap to A Few Good Men for my Stephenses Day onwards viewing

When you search Rob Reiner’s name on Bluesky it’s a bunch of people talking about how much his art meant to them, and when you search Rob Reiner’s name on Twitter it’s a bunch of people saying he deserved it because of his politics

Truly distressing watching Taylor Swift use a face wipe to take off her make up after the Eras Tour. Girl you’re a billionaire be nicer to your face

In fairness to the casting team of Vanderpump Rules, they do seem to have somehow found another bunch of the worst people you’ve ever encountered, so job done I guess
