Was anyone else led to believe that a loose axe head flying off and injuing or killing a random bystander was going to be much more of a problem than it ended up being?

What's next, building a wall around NYC and designating it as a federal prison?

I cannot believe he hasn't repainted the Presidential Palace in gold yet.

Just waiting to see when the USA realizes just how much of the industrial chemicals their industry depends upon are imported from China.

Everyone talks about depression as if it's an entirely bad thing. They never talk about how it helps you cope in actually overwhelmingly horrific conditions by numbing you to the constant pain and stress you're getting subjected to.

So not only are they trying to make it harder for USAians to collect their government pensions, they're crashing the stock market to make it harder for USAians to live off their private pensions as well.

The DOW only needs to drop another 10000 points until Trump succeeds in making America just like it was when he got fired. Oh, and a pandemic, so we have that to look forward to if bad men don't find their courage and do something.

Enough with the weekly announcements of new battery breakthroughs. Just give me the option of AA and AAA batteries that last. Testing the best Lithium Ion 1200mAh they were bright and worked great, for two hours then zero, alkaline may not be super bright after 5 hours, but you still get light.

Oh look a foot of fresh snow I can get in another ski day! Wait, here's a half inch of ice on top. You're not leaving the house and if you do it'll be miserable to ski on.

An old post episode ad for a tv show reminded me that there was in fact a CSI:Cyber at one point... I say point because I really don't think it ended up with enough shows to call it a series.

The reason Pete Hegseth has a Russian phone number and email is to ensure the records are not subject to subpoenas.

Someone should paint a portrait that actually looks like him as retribution for the insults he has been hurling at the artist who seems to have done everything they could reasonably do to paint him in a favourable way.

Threads followers seem to consist almost exclusively of bots pretending to be young asian women trying to perpetrate some kind of scam. On Bluesky they almost all seem to be real people. I wonder if Meta realizes they're cutting their own throat by allowing this.

Winter ascent of Mt Dix on Sunday/Monday, got 500m from the summit this time before having to turn back due to lack of time and got back home by 4am.

Those last few hours after packing your gear for a multi-day solo climb but before leaving are oddly stressful. You're constantly wondering if you packed too much (and therefore too heavy) or too little and are going to be stuck cold in the mountains.

When he said nothing he could do would make Democrats happy he was lying. How did everyone resist heckling with "RESIGN".

As of now the plan is to ski and summit Mt. Dix this Sunday, if by some miracle the slides are still skiable it should make an interesting day.

Some shots from my ski up Whiteface today, including the walk up to the summit. If this was a less developed area it would be quite impressive. You can in fact do this one on Nordic BC gear.
