As we mark 100 years of celebrating Black history, let’s honor the sacrifices of the leaders who came before us, and recommit ourselves to continuing their work.

Black History is American History.

Republican extremists want to whitewash our struggle, our journey and our substantial contributions to the nation.

We will never let that happen.

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.

As Black History Month begins, we honor the generations of Black New Yorkers who built this city into the “gorgeous mosaic” we call home.

Today, we reflect on the words of Mayor David Dinkins: our city’s first Black mayor (and a democratic socialist!).

Each day I will honor a Black hero.

15 at the time, a now 19 y/o Aaren 'Aquamayne' Rudolph from Montgomery, AL, jumped out of a riverboat and swam across the water upon receiving the signal to help the lone security guard who was attacked by multiple white adult men.
Get up there, young blood. 🫡

Breaking:

The former CNN anchor Don Lemon was arrested late last night on charges that he violated federal law during a protest at a church in St. Paul — a case rejected last week by a magistrate judge.

Lemon has said he was simply reporting as a journalist. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/30/u...

Breaking on MS NOW:

Career DOJ prosecutors in both Minnesota and Los Angeles refused to be involved in charging Don Lemon and the other journalists who covered the Minneapolis church protests.

The prosecutors believe the evidence does not support the charges, per @carolleonnig.bsky.social.
