If we do not seriously move away from burning fossil fuels, hurricanes like Melissa will only become worse. Already today Melissa tested the limits of what preparedness and adaptation can do. These limits are very real for everyone in the Caribbean. www.worldweatherattribution.org/climate-chan...

this is extremely important and there are so many serious voices in the climate world who have this completely wrong?
Please take some time to read about the origin of the 1.5C target. It didn't originate from naivety or stupidity. Those who put it forward certainly didn't see it as "pointless" then, and would probably still not.

65% of the planned coal capacity from 2015 ended up not existing, thanks almost entirely to climate policy and renewable energy construction

China is an outlier - but maybe not for long

The average water level measured at Virginia Key (near #Miami) set a new monthly record high in October, which is also the new *all-time* record high month.
I also feel confident that it was the highest monthly water level there since the last interglacial period... ~120,000 years ago.

First evidence that emotions are contagious in insects too.
Bumblebees that observed an optimistic bumblebee became optimistic themselves.
This is the most basic form of empathy.
