MIT Predicted in 1972 That Society Will Collapse This Century. New Research Shows We’re on Schedule.
A 1972 MIT study predicted that rapid economic growth would lead to societal collapse in the mid 21st century. A new paper shows we’re unfortunately right on schedule.

Looking at this picture, I think I understand how the world is changing: It portrays the difference between a society on the rise, and in contrast, a society in decline. The Tiangong Space Station (China) is in perfect order, while the ISS is a jumble of cables, a sign of decadence.

In 1976 Carlo M. Cipolla, an Italian historian wrote an essay called "The Fundamental Laws of Human Stupidity" which we must now understand become relevant in the current situation humanity finds itself. I will briefly explain the 5 laws that Cipolla tries through his writings to prepare us for:

Notice to people in the USA: America is not a country, it is in fact two different continents, renaming the Gulf of Mexico, is in no way a reference to your nation.

I can understand how people in the United States are feeling right now: seeing an onslaught of rising autoritarian rule and illegality can be overwhelming, having experienced the same thing in my home country for over 6 years helps me relate to what it must feel like, but a stark warning:

In Spanish the word Gulf is "Gólfo". But it has a double meaning: It not only refers to a body of water, it also refers to a person who is dishonest, shameless, a grifter and thief. I guess it is easy to say who the "Gólfo de América" really is... A lousy orange criminal...

I have taught International Trade Law for many years, and seeing how distorted its treatment has been, I want to briefly explain it: Tariffs are used by countries to protect their local industries, trade agreements are meant to slowly remove them.
