This is completely bonkers and a slippery slope. VA guidelines allow providers to refuse treatment based on personal characteristics, like marital status and party. This results from an EO on Jan 30. This is incredibly dangerous and can lead to denial of care for who knows what else

It’s appalling that this administration goes out of its way to actually cause harm. We know that pollution = increase in asthma, heart disease, cancer, etc. This is targeted.

A very unfortunate event, especially since it's preventable. I don't believe the parents thought this would ever happen to their child when they chose not to vaccinate.

Yes, we do have health crises in this country. But demonizing, defunding, and dismantling the research institutions and agencies that are in place to protect and promote health is not the way. Their goal is not truly to make America healthy again.

Hell yeah. Hold the line. This is what we need people to do.

Slow things down, don’t comply in advance so the courts have time to stop them. It’s starting to work.
Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.
February 7, 2025 at 8:01 PM
It isn’t a law. We don’t need to comply at this moment. I understand the fear of repercussions, but doesn’t that pale in comparison to the fear and vulnerability these kids have from the loss of healthcare?

Why Are Hospitals Bowing to Trump’s Illegal Gender-Affirming Care Ban?
The president doesn’t actually have the power to ban gender-affirming care for trans youth. So why has Children’s National “paused” certain forms of care?

A side effect from the past two weeks- people are talking about public health. Even clinicians sometimes fail to understand what public health truly is, that it isn’t only disease and data, but also prevention, promotion, and equity. Though it feels like shouting into a void, keep talking.

A dear friend sent this to me. It couldn’t have come at a better time. As a Christian who found vocation as a healthcare worker, who devoutly believes in equity, compassion, and advocacy, it pains me to see faith militarized towards hate. But I will continue to act, speak, and practice with love.

I think some people hear “grants” and think that without them, scientists and government workers just have less stuff to play with at work. But grants fund salaries for students, academics, researchers, and people who work in all areas of public service.

“Pausing” grants means people don’t eat.
