Something that I feel has been missed in the discussion of A’ja Wilson’s greatness is that the payoff of her ascent is earned.

Four years to the day since being blocked by Brittney Griner with a series on the line, Wilson’s game three game winner marks the completion of her hero’s journey.
With A WNBA Finals Game Winner In Hand, A'ja Wilson's Ascent Is Now Complete
There's no question about it now. One win away from a third WNBA title in four years and on the heels of a Game Three game winning jumper, A'ja Wilson is officially the undisputed best in the world.

One of the reasons I bailed out of Substack early was the invasion of LinkedIn culture was clear.

There’s not a lot of good opportunities for Indy journos but man…that place is gonna be a hellsite for the combo founder/journo who is the worst person you remember from J-School.
I fucking hate the LinkedIn one sentence paragraph culture so much. Just blocked someone on substack for doing it there.

The entire backlash to woke was basically rooted in the sex cabal folks being worried that the sex cabal would come under scrutiny.

Me Too scrambled their brains as much as an Obama presidency did.
I can’t believe this group of people, who are literally only one degree away from leaders of a global child sex trafficking ring, have spent the better part of a decade complaining about how wokeism has elevated unworthy outsiders as if it was a capital offense.

I watched a really interesting TikTok recently that the next cultural evolution we’re gonna see is a slow shift to the dirtbag left and every day someone scolds on here I realize we’re 100% headed for that conclusion.
because i thought “ernst runt” was funny, that’s why bsky.app/profile/mors...
It’s kind of a lazy choice. Bovino has no shortage (no pun intended) of character traits that deserve insults.

Why is his height the subject of an insult, and doesn’t your focus on it imply that other short people should view their stature as flawed?

With a massive game vs #2 UCLA on the horizon, it was USC that would be the team to trip up #8 Iowa ahead of that matchup.

Tyler dives into what went wrong for the Hawkeyes and just how important it is to have a bounce back game on Sunday.

This is good considering the grand achievement of part Unrivaled was supposed to be how you could avoid the media responsibilities players don't like and still have a league stay in the broader conversation.

Turns out that stuff fans and players said doesn't matter actually just might!
Unrivaled president, Alex Bazzell just addressed the contingent of media covering tonight's games and said in part, "We will be doing more of these in the future."

Additionally, he thanked everybody for their coverage of the league and expressed excitement about what's to come

In a sport where we have a tendency to overanalyze banter, Becky Burke and Molly Miller gave The Territorial Cup a good injection of ethical hate that may help revive a one-great rivalry.

You know the programs dislike one another. You know they've competed with titles on the line.

But what is the history of hate in Tennessee vs. UConn?

We dig it up for you as we bring back "Hater History" here: https://www.nocapspacewbb.com/p/a-haters-history-uconn-vs-tennessee
A Hater's History: UConn vs. Tennessee

Bolts is really an indispensable part of the American media landscape. Just so much great info about what’s at stake in elections big and small.

Should be required reading for every American.
NEW: Special elections in the razor-thin Democratic majority-Houses in Maine and Pennsylvania. Billions of dollars in funding for school. A congressional primary.

There are plenty of important elections right around corner, in FEBRUARY.

So i put together my monthly guide of elections to watch:

I genuinely am of the mindset that Shane Gillis is probably the only man in America that could properly carry a late-night style weekly show for sports and make it work.

Anyone else, especially people coming from sports and not comedy, is just not gonna hit.
Neu News (sorry, I know, I know).

Awful Announcing has learned that ESPN and Jason Kelce won't be seeking a second season of his late-night show in 2026. That doesn't mean the show has been canceled, but Kelce will explore other creative opportunities.

I need legacy WNBA reporters to get off Twitter because the idea of “what we need for WBB media” is being driven by a lot of what’s happening over there and it’s brain rotting them the same way it did the DC political corps.

1. I know the dynamics here given we’ve been in the same rooms before.

2. The issue there isn’t the journalists in the room and it isn’t going to be fixed by treating podcasters who aren’t on the ground as something good for the health of the media ecosystem of the sport.
Respectfully, I don't think that's what this is saying at all. As someone who is in these press conferences, on the ground covering women's sports every day there is an incessant desire by "professional journalists" to be liked. As a result the coverage is often soft and coddling. (cont.)

Aggressive and truthful evaluation is what, exactly? If you think dragging the mens sports media apparatus wholesale into women’s sports is good, smart or viable for the sport then bless your heart.
That changes when more people show up and cover it as a sport, with the same aggressive, truthful evaluation that is applied to men's sports coverage. That's what Cari and Jemele say they are going to bring. Hope that wasn't too GIRLBOSS for you.

It was in writing this story that I learned Ayla Guzzardo is from Hammond, Louisiana and now I’ve never been more convinced that she’ll be one of those ones.
From Ayla Guzzardo at McNeese to Vanessa Blair-Lewis at George Mason, there's several mid-major women's basketball coaches that could be in line for big promotions this coaching carousel.

I know it's part of the whole branding but I wish the branding of new podcasts -- They've been holding their tongue until now! -- would just die already.

It's particularly annoying in women's sports when, anytime a new media venture launches, it's always 'unapologetic straight talk' lol
Cari Champion and Jemele Hill are teaming up again for a new women's sports podcast, Flagrant and Funny.

A few things are certain: the takes will be hot, there will be ample roasting, and the gloves are coming all the way off.

It’s really indicative of how endemic “number must always go up” is in society that a completely normal level off after a massive spike is treated as this harbinger that the sports is suddenly on shaky ground again.

Just saw this resurface and honestly the quiet diplomatic crisis unfolding with the Italian press is gonna become a much bigger deal if they qualify for the World Cup…
I genuinely think boycotting the World Cup is some of the strongest leverage the Europeans have.
A German soccer federation executive committee member says it's time to consider a World Cup boycott because of the actions of U.S. President Donald Trump.
