What an honour to be in the latest issue of Krytyka Prawa & among these authors. “Revisiting the ‘Menten Affair’”, about an extradition request made in the Cold War, was possible bc of the EHRI/Conny Kristel fellowship @niodamsterdam.bsky.social. It’s OA!

It was such a pleasure to share the next part of my research on Polish defence lawyers & bringing women into the European/Cold War legal historical narrative. Great questions & listening to what colleagues are working on was icing on the cake, super job @lbu-rae.bsky.social
It is Day 2 of our Festival of Research and Knowledge Exchange #RKEFest25 and we've heard inspiring and fascinating research talks from PhD student @mariellereuser.bsky.social and colleagues @agatafijalkow.bsky.social and Dr Sandra Obiora. Thank you for sharing your work! #PhDSky #AcademicSky

Start of the w/e leaves me upbeat. I’m really impressed by my first-year Public Law students. The seminars are special bc of the international students, who offer fresh perspectives about how constitutional principles look elsewhere, ie. Global South. I am definitely here for these kinds of spaces.

The “Legal History Works-in-Progress Workshop” @ials.bsky.social required a very early start this morning, but it was sure worth it. Super meaningful exchanges about “what is law?” and the nature of a polity presented much food for thought. More of this please.

This review of Philippe Sands’s book by the wonderful Ariel Dorfman is riveting ⬇️

My morning read about Lucile Hadžihalilović’s “The Ice Tower” leaves me unsettled, intrigued, and wanting to see this movie. Great review @isaacfeldberg.bsky.social
Color me dazzled by Lucile Hadžihalilović's THE ICE TOWER, an unsettling hall-of-mirrors meditation on enchantment in the blinding lights of idolatry, cinema, and fantasy. One of the most dreamily arresting films you will see this year. My four-star review for @ebertvoices.bsky.social:

Weekend film viewing was a real treat, and thought-providing - whether it’s about redemption or fate. Two very different filmmakers, in both the characters are compelling. Monday starts with these films in my head, but that’s okay.
