New book review of a not-new book up on the website, James Baldwin’s ‘Notes of a Native Son’. This collection of essays was a challenge thematically but beautiful (and important) to read.

Does anyone have a favourite James Baldwin book?

Bad news - my laptop charger exploded mid writing sprint.

Good news, I did a writing sprint and the cloud exists.

RIP charger. Thanks for not catching fire.

Rach had some unofficial ALPHA merch made up for me. It’s the best present I’ve ever received 😅

For context - she doodled facetious cartoons while editing to amuse the both of us.

My buddy Rian over at Genre Blender did me the great honor of reviewing Alpha through their critical lens.

Check out what they had to say!

Fair warning, there are a lot of animal puns 😅

Review: ALPHA by K. D. Marchesi
ALPHA, the debut novel by K. D. Marchesi, has finally been unleashed, and Rian has a howlin' good time reading and reviewing it. So put your paws in the air 'cause this one gets a little wild!

It’s no secret Rian and I have differing opinions on many things but it’s always fun to discuss (respectfully)!
I made a thing I have some strong opinions about. I’m not sure @afictionalescapist.bsky.social agrees with me but I guess that’s half the fun? (he says while shaking in his boots because confrontation is scary) 😂

For real though, I think this one is worth talking about. Open to discuss, debate, etc
New video! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rian discusses the broken state of book star ratings, and what we can do instead. 🤔

Author friends!

What are some cool small goals you’ve hit along your journey that gave you a huge amount of joy?

I’ll go first - anytime I see that someone has read a page on KDP. I’m a relatively new author but I can’t see that ever getting old 🤩

Book review! ALPHA by @afictionalescapist.bsky.social is a shockingly addicting debut. It's a story of personal growth and found family, and a great start for this new series.

With ALPHA’s release tomorrow (at least here in Australia) it is time to introduce the last of our main characters.

Meet Tilon! He’s disciplined, broody and probably the most level headed of the entire crew. His calm, yet demanding presence is a pillar of strength for those around him.
