It has never been more difficult to get a job. I think a lot of older people don't understand that. I didn't. You talk to people in the middle of it, the jobs where they used to take the first person they saw, dishwashing and so forth, they make you go online, submit things in triplicate, do tests.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

The federal government is telling you they cannot afford to house you, feed you, educate you or heal you — but that they do have enough resources and scale to criminalize, assault, deport and incarcerate your neighbors simply going to work or taking their kids to graduation.
