#EccentricOrbits by John Bloom about the rise, fall, and rise of the #Iridium satellite constellation is my absolute favourite space business book. So I was positively giddy when I recently picked up a near pristine hardcover at the local public library's used bookstore for the princely sum of $2.

I am so proud of my sister Dr. Margaret Choi, not only for the recognition from BC Children's Hospital on this #NationalPediatricianDay but for her years of tireless dedication both within and beyond the walls of the hospital in providing care to the smallest and most vulnerable of patients.

Congratulations to Dr. Peter Annan on his appointment to the Order of Canada. Peter is an internationally recognised expert in the field of ground penetrating radar. During my early career I had the pleasure of working with Peter on proposals for GPR instruments for lunar and planetary exploration.

There is a disturbance in the Force this New Year's Day as I mourn the recent death of my friend Tom Srsa. May he live in the memories of his family and friends, in his children Adrian, Michael and Maya, and in the students whose lives he enriched over a long teaching career. tinyurl.com/2t3h4t2h
