wish I had known in college that I could’ve just written “i 💜 god” on all of the homework I hastily slapped together and either gotten an A or at the very least had the professor fired when they failed to appreciate my work
Worth noting that the student admits that she just threw the thing together in 30 minutes without reading the paper she was supposed to be responding to.

Ken Paxton has launched a snitch line to gather reports of supposed violations of Texas' transphobic bathroom policing law. Please do not abuse this snitch line. Please do not fill it with faff and nonsense. Please do not attach huge, unwieldy and irrelevant documentation to any reports.

also as this era is making abundantly clear: not all of us are good at making videos! there are so many bad videos now and why do they need to exist???
Every few years there's a bunch of "pivot to video" discourse about how creatives should all start making videos instead of doing text-based work. And every few years we discover again that the supposed "popularity" of video is based on fake audience numbers created by the video platforms.

One of the many reasons AI can't produce good writing is it can't hate its own writing. It can't think to itself "Maybe I'm illiterate" during the writing process. And that's essential

Imagine being over 30 years old and still everyone around you feels the need to infantilize you because of your terminal inability to stop fucking up your own life
Possibly the only thing more freakish than Nuzzi's prose is the contortions her defenders twist themselves into. "She's not just hot, but she definitely is hot, while also being a vulnerable smol child. Also, criticizing her is sexist."

the hater's council just vetoed this actually.

"a real hater hates attention seekers by ignoring them" wise words from one hater elder.

"hate reading is for homework dorks" said another senior hater on condition of anonymity as this statement was a compound diss targeting other council members

Regardless of what happens tonight, the South matters a lot more than you think
Yes. Important to realize that Tennessee sent 2 Dems to Congress until very recently. This seat was rigged with the explicit intent of not being anywhere near winnable. The fact that the Reps had to sweat it is VERY bad for them.
TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

i will never not be frustrated by the ways in which certain ubiquitous "rural" iconography -- big $100,000 trucks and pricey boots, etc etc -- is really just suburban and exurbanites doing cowboy cosplay

i will always be amazed at how many c-suite dudes have cowboy fantasies
I think we lost it in editing but I talked about that very thing. Real rural life is virtually invisible — no art for dollar stores and meth clinics. And its racial diversity is erased. Actual rural people, especially poor ones, cannot access its aesthetic power
This is really important, because it is also about who can access the rural aesthetic. It's not always rural residents!

also it's just very funny to me to watch these publications who are so far behind the 8 ball they're not even in the same zip code, make a token effort at video.

girl we can tell you spent two dollars and half an intern on your video strategy

a consequence of every writer/journalist/reporter being shoved into doing video content is that a lot of videos fucking suck now
