it is kind of wild to be repeatedly told that you must engage with a technology that exists almost entirely by the theft of your work and the work of other workers like you

should i also ask the guy who robs my house to paint it? do i need to engage a car thief as my mechanic??
www.transformernews.ai/p/the-left-i... i wouldn't call this "directionally correct" as much as i'd call it uninterested in confronting the left critiques of the AI industry that the right has no objection to: the amorality of its leaders, its model of theft, and its environmental damage
The left is missing out on AI
As a movement, it has largely refused to engage seriously with AI, ceding debate about a threat and opportunity to the right

the only new technology i need at this time is environmentally friendly styrofoam

i firmly believe that the most essential kitchen skill is being able to turn whatever random bullshit you find in your fridge into a delicious soup

freelance journalism is great because not only do you get to navigate the whims of AI and capricious editors, you ALSO get to engage with some of the least user-friendly technology ever invented in the form of various and increasingly horrible invoicing platforms

update I obtained a shockingly full quart of pickle chips, I am wealthy beyond belief
question I just asked a restaurant: what is the largest quantity of pickles you will sell me

I am back from the theater and baby let me tell you: money can buy you a lot of things but it apparently cannot buy you the ability to competently analyze literature
I am not watching Wuthering Heights so that I can enjoy this classic piece of literature brought to life, I am watching so I can mercilessly critique Emerald Fennell’s choices and stare at Jacob Elordi, ok

guess who’s back and ranting about Dallas restaurants?? it’s me, the hater of overpriced mediocrity

There are dozens of restaurants in the Dallas suburbs, often owned by immigrants, that offer better food at a fraction of the cost

the only thing that could heal me right now is gutturally screaming directly into the face of an elected official

lol nothing like seeing an actual union buster share their ""support"" for today's strike

easy to support when it costs you $0.00 i suppose

Boycotts are necessary! Big protests are necessary! Economic blackouts are necessary! Workers calling out sick or taking time off to support these causes is necessary! Mutual aid is BEYOND necessary! But they are not strikes.

I shouldn’t have to clarify this but since people want to deliberately misunderstand me in my mentions: I am talking here about national food centric outlets, not local journalists who are doing remarkable work.

This story deserves national coverage.
Kinda crazy to me that food media has essentially ignored the incredible work that protesters are doing to feed their neighbors in Minnesota, Maine, and beyond

There is no bigger story in food right now than this but yes of course let’s talk about Noma some fucking more

Many independent journalists have been! Legacy food media though …. 🦗 🦗 🦗
Kenji Lopez-Alt has been on top of this very publicly.

but also if someone wants to pay me to talk to Mainers and Minnesotans, my DMs are open. I have a ton of experience in reporting on food activism!!
also to be clear I would pitch this story if I thought I was qualified to write it, but I want to hear from Minnesotans and Mainers and the people on the ground!!!

The kind-hearted ICU nurse shot by ICE agents was my childhood best friend.

I developed a recipe for the famed Irish spice bag, a dish created by takeaway workers as a staff meal that is so much more than the sum of its parts, for @serious-eats.bsky.social. It’s tingly, spicy, and savory, and you should make it immediatelyyyyyy

This Dublin-Style Spice Bag Uses Frozen Nuggets—but Still Nails the Tingly Heat
In this beloved Dublin takeout dinner, crunchy chicken, fluffy chips, and a numbing, spicy coating—plus curry sauce for dipping.

Huge scandal that Minneapolis has been crawling with terrorists this whole time. They've been living among us undercover as poets and nurses. And would've continued to, had it not been for the work of our bravest child kidnappers

fascinating that every person ICE encounters has a gun and is also a high ranking gang member

After first trying this perfect drunk dish in Dublin in 2023, I spent months after my layoff recreating Ireland’s perfectly spicy, crunchy, tingly SPICE BAG and by god I think I have succeeded

Read the recipe at Serious Eats, then make it immediately www.seriouseats.com/spice-bag-re...
