I discovered that the icon for the #TheUnarchiver on #macOS has a QR code for the project website. I like this.

The Bayeux Tapestry will be returning to England for the first time in nearly a millennia. The British Museum will display the tapestry from September 2026 to July 2027 while the Bayeux Museum is undergoing renovations.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #speckles&spots birds. Not sure if this counts but there’s an Old Speckled Hen here somewhere 🤣 #BirdsUK 🪶

Pleased to see #RopemakersField in #Limehouse flying this flag today. It is indeed a very nice, if small, green space.

I gather #serenity is the theme of the day. The #pigeon at the front looks especially serene.

I know I’m a bit late but saw a #Robin in a Holly bush yesterday. It turned away as I took it but I still like it. Belated Happy Christmas :-)

Also this nice Swan 🦢 during the #BoxingDayWalk. Apparently they’re not keen on Brussels sprouts. Proper swan food 👍. #BirdsUK 🪶 #MilwallDock

A rather nondescript #Limehouse this Christmas so here’s Fat Percy (№2) the Pigeon from Christmas Day 2022 wishing you all the season’s greetings. Or was probably just after more seeds.

Aberfeldy Street in Poplar, East London.

I saw this YT video about how these colourful houses are being knocked down 😢 near me so went for a walk to see them for myself before they’re gone.

The No.1 highest grossing movie worldwide when you were 10 years old is how your 2026 is going to go.

A New Hope

I’ll take that.

I accidentally added “Pigs In Blankets” to the Fruit & Veg section of my shopping list. My bad. But #AppleIntelligence thinking I should add it to the list ”Baby Care” section is disturbing!

Two Canada 🇨🇦 Geese, a cormorant and a gull are playing “hide and seek” but I don’t think the gull knows the rules.

These floating #bbq / #fondue boat thingies in #CanaryWharf always appealed. Now in a #geodesic dome to keep the cold out. Must try.

“What was the first code editor you ever used?”

For me it would have been the full screen “editor” on a PET 4032. It appeared majestically in a maths lesson in (I think) 1980 and I was utterly hooked.

The ZX81 followed later when I got one at home.

This poor #swan landed on the walkway next to the #MillwallDock and of course cannot take off or hop over the fence to get back in the water. The railings go as far in the other direction so it’s quite confused. At least me and other walkers gave it some room.
Hope it finds its way out. 🪶 #UkBirds

I learned today that #BBUK is still a thing. Wow. Yea it was fascinating in the Netherlands in 1999 and the first series in UK a year later, but … well maybe not as shocking that broadcast TV is still a thing :-)

I found an old (maps circa 2016) Garmin #satnav in a box. Uses a USB-B connector. Fairly #retro #gps. I wonder if it still works. Does anyone use these things any more?
