"The Collectors Hall" So named as the building was the former city parish hall where punters in need would collect financial assitance. Beautifully restored by AC Hotels. Pleased to say there are plenty of original features still within. Designed by Thomson (Greek's son) & Sandilands.

"Ramsay Garden"

Commissioned by the poet Allan Ramsay. Not to be confused with Allan Ramsay, the artist. That was his son.

Just behind here you'll find The Witchery. Save up and spend a night in one of the gothic luxurious plush suites. It's absolutely worth it!

"Windsor House" Or 2b Kirklee Rd opposite Cuku. Whenever Jim moves house he asks me to paint his former abode. Naturally I'm never done sending him estate agent brochures. I have absolutely no idea who designed it but it has additions by JJ Burnet from the Stranglers.

"Jazz Trio"

And now for something completely different. Word of advice for budding illustrators. When a client asks if you can do......say YES! and then figure out how you are going to do it.

Tip #1 Forget every technique you normally use.

Tip #2 Keep the line simple.

Tip #3 Keep the.......

"Rogano" again. I make no excuses for working these up with Photoshop. 2 reasons - They are adapted from my own original paintings and secondly Graphic Design was actually what I studied way back in the late 80s. '87 we were creating passages of text with....

"Balvenie Distillery" Originally called Glen Gordon, they only started releasing official bottlings as late as 1973. My best advice here is to stay at Craigellachie Hotel or The Highlander across the road (both have great whisky bars), cycle or walk up the old Speyside railway line and you’ll find..

"Malmaison" St. Jude's Church. John Stephen. Very Greek Thomson but a good decade or so before him. It looks complete but it's not. There should be a Greek monument on the roof the same height as the door. It was taken down in the 60s for saferty reasons.

Whenever I paint boats I include names on the side as you see on most fishing boats. I never draw attention to it. Sometimes the person cottons on. Mostly they go unnnoticed. This painting from about fifteen years ago fell out whilst looking for something else. It's quite poignant really......

I love a design collaboration, me. Especially when it's with my own daughter. Grace painted this in lockdown. Simple but striking. I thought we could do something with it. We scanned it, uniformed the colours in Photoshop, and I added a line drawing of the Finnieston Crane......

"Sagrada Famila" The tallest church in the world. It's actually going to be completed next year. That's 143 years! Only 2 people are buried here. José María Bocabella, who bought the land and came up with the idea and Gaudi, of course, who designed it - amcmurchie.com/product/sagr...

"Scapa Distillery" Orkney - It was almost destroyed by a fire in 1919 but was saved by the sailors of the Grand Fleet who were based there. Around Christmas time in the nineties and noughties I’d often get a discounted bottle of this off a friend who worked at the Allied.......

"Heraghty's" Glasgow. Best pint of Guinness in Glasgow according to Paolo Nutini. I wouldn't know about that kind of thing but a decent endorsement nonetheless. A popular haunt of Jack McLean in the 90s. When you couldn't reach him at The Herald you only had to......
