"Paesano, Miller Street" Founded by the lovely Mr Paul Stevenson and now owned by the Di Maggio's group. This kind of shopfront is right up my street. Loads going on. These were my favourite restaurants to illustrate for the Sunday Herald restaurant review back in the day........

.... We've since printed it on various products. The totes are the latest. They have been in the shoaps for weeks now, but I had a bit of a wait securing the studio time with the surly model/designer before I could do any marketing.......

I love a design collaboration, me. Especially when it's with my own daughter. Grace painted this in lockdown. Simple but striking. I thought we could do something with it. We scanned it, uniformed the colours in Photoshop, and I added a line drawing of the Finnieston Crane......

"Sagrada Famila" The tallest church in the world. It's actually going to be completed next year. That's 143 years! Only 2 people are buried here. José María Bocabella, who bought the land and came up with the idea and Gaudi, of course, who designed it - amcmurchie.com/product/sagr...

I'm not at all comfortable painting another artist's work. Especially when it's Alasdair Gray! However, this lesser version of his Celestial Ceiling was commissioned for a wedding order of service. Go and see it for yourself. It's the largest public artwork in Scotland......

"Scapa Distillery" Orkney - It was almost destroyed by a fire in 1919 but was saved by the sailors of the Grand Fleet who were based there. Around Christmas time in the nineties and noughties I’d often get a discounted bottle of this off a friend who worked at the Allied.......

"Mitchell Library" (Jan 2026 Calendar) - What a place this is. One of the largest public libraries in Europe. The Glasgow reading room as you enter off North Street, the smell of the corridors taking you into the 1960s addition. Using microfiche to find specific historical newspaper articles.......

"Heraghty's" Glasgow. Best pint of Guinness in Glasgow according to Paolo Nutini. I wouldn't know about that kind of thing but a decent endorsement nonetheless. A popular haunt of Jack McLean in the 90s. When you couldn't reach him at The Herald you only had to......

"The Lismore" Interior designed by the elusive Ranald MacColl. He employed me to help paint the set for the Ayr Gaiety panto years ago but didn't have enough cash to pay me on the last day so for the next 2 years whenever I bumped into him in the pub he'd stick 20 quid in my pocket......

"Glenglassaugh Distillery" It’s been owned by everyone and their granny over the years but now in the safe hands of Brown-Forman. They've NOT mothballed it. It's just having some quieter seasons. If you don’t care too much for whisky take yourself outside and marvel at the dramatic beauty of.....

"The Apollo" Felt like it was open for decades but it was only 12 years! Tbf it was Green's Playhouse before that from 1920. That's why it had a ridiculously high stage at 12ft. It housed the cinema screen when they used it for live performances. Apparently it also helped......

King's Theatre, Glasgow. I worked as stage crew here a few times in the 90s. I lived on Elmbank St so it was rare and handy. The wee upstairs bar with balcony is the hottest place on earth in the summer! #adrianmcmurchie #theglasgowillustrator #shopscotland amcmurchie.com/product/king...
