I write books and grow food and flowers on a permaculture farm. I've lived in seven different countries and thinking about my 8th. I am finishing a doctorate and PhD. I research how humans take control of their brain development after childhood trauma.
This land was once a patch of dry, stubborn weeds. With a little love and permaculture wisdom, we turned it into a thriving butterfly haven 🐛🌸

Now we watch bees buzz and butterflies dance. Our children wander in awe and we feel...whole 🌿💧

When we heal the Earth, we heal ourselves, too. 🌎🧡

@kslivensky.bsky.social 's book, "I Rock" arrived this morning, and my 8 year old read it before she even got dressed for the day! Hubby seems to like it, too 😊❤️ #geology #summerreading

Today I bow my head and pray for the souls who are grieving, who are hurting, who are raging. I pray we humans return to the Wisdom embedded in the Earth. We are but a passing thought, yet Love infuses each breath we take. Love is reality, Nature the shadow of reality, humans just sit in the shade.

The world is a lot. but it’s Monday: time to get to work. We have research to conduct, ideas to write, art to create, & connections to make. I’m having trouble getting motivated, but I remind myself we have to keep working and writing and creating and thinking. It’s the greatest resistance of all. ❤️

This is the guy! ❤️ His job: Watch the chickens and goats on our permaculture farm. He has faithfully protected every single goat from predators. Only a few chickens have disappeared under his watch, and only on days he was super hungry 😂 (We have an electric fence round the chickens now)

We met Gerbet at the market. He seems nice. Says he likes orange sherbet.

Why is fiction important? B/c stories develop our brains. Fiction that paints 'who I am" and "what I can do," changes the medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC). A well developed MPFC is imperative to mental health. Fiction helps kids/adults, after abuse or war, develop their MPFC. Fiction can be therapy.

I write books for my children. One day they will wake from childhood. They will gaze into eyes that may be filled with hate. They will stand when others want them to fall. On those days, I want them to open the Book of Mom, and read this message: Once upon a time that still is...You are loved.
